Every martial art has it's basic stance, in Capoeira we have a basic movement- the "Ginga" wich literaly means to sway one's body from side to side.
This Ginga incorporates much of the Capoeira philosophy mainly the concepts of perpetual movement and energy efficiency.
The Ginga will be the phocus of this class.
in this class we will learn our first defence and attacks.
learn how to combine them in the ginga.
we will understand the concept of flow of direction and begin with a simple combination.
in this class we will learn capoeira's signature kick and what is probably one of the most powerfull kicks in martial arts, the meia lua de compasso. we will also learn our second defence "esquiva baixa" or low defence.
we will learn how to use our body mechanics corectly in order to create energy
and improve our overall balance and coordination.
In this class we will learn the queixada kick and the back defence, the esquiva pra tras.
we will also learn about what i call the rubber band effect and how to gather kinetic energy through proper body mechanics.
In this class we will learn the armada kick and the side defense - esquiva lateral.
we will learn the concept of kicking with an entrace as opposed to from the ginga
and understand the difference between side defense to the close and far side of the ginga.
In this sixth and final class we will learn how to combine all we have learned so far into sequence form.
In this course we will learn the foundations of Capoeira. Here we will learn the basic principles and skills necessary to learn this incredible martial art, dance, game.
In short bite size lectures we will learn in a clear step by step progression the 'Ginga' the most fundamental Capoeira movement from where all other movments begin. and also all basic capoeira kicks and defences.
simultaneously we will condition our body, gain strenght and flexibility which will also prepare ourselves for the next levels.
