Camtasia Video Editing – Practical Video Editing

I have to introduce you to the first scene we will be building in our video editing project in Camtasia.

This lecture explains how to import footage inside Camtasia and how to set up your project. By setting up I mean setting the resolution, framerate and similar options in Camtasia.

Camtasia has its own animations, but if you want to add motion to given elements they came up with a system they call Behaviors. Before we proceed any further I need to explain this concept to you.

In this lecture we will add a shape from annotations in camtasia 2023 and animate the left side of the project with it.

In this lecture, we will import footage in Camtasia 2021, Camtasia 2022, and Camtasia 2023. Once we have it imported we will learn how to crop footage in Camtasia.

Once we crop and animate the shape in the background its time we animate the footage we cropped.

Just like we did with the object on the left we will continue our video editing in Camtasia project by animating the right object.

Camtasia allows us to crop objects to size and shape, lets use these features to prepare the right side of the screen.

Once we crop the right footage in Camtasia we can continue our video editing by adding another behavior, this time to the right object.

In this lecture I will be introducing you to Scene #2 of our Camtasia Sudio Video Editing project.

Let me show you the reason Camtasia is using Quint, Quart and Expo type of animaiton easing. You need a bit of animation knowledge or understanding of motion graphic software like Adobe After Effects to properly understand these easings. Let me show you in this video on simple examples what happens and changes in the animations we use in Camtasia. We will use After Effects as an example to showcase the changes.

Now we can continue our work by animating the background of the second scene.

We are editing a complete video with Camtasia and we should properly introduce the software - let us animate the Camtasia logo.

This is one of my little secrets that I use in Camtasia to work efficiently.

In this camtasia studio lecture we will animate the left and right icon that will fly into the screen. We will use Camtasia behaviors to achieve our desired result.

In this lecture we will remove the green screen of our camera and make it appear on the screen in the appropriate place.

This lecture will teach us how to animate in Camtasia. We will make an advanced disassembly / scene ending by flying everything away. This will allow us to proceed to the next scene.

Another useful quality of life hint that I use while editing with Camtasia. Using the CTRL+T and CTRL+A shortcuts to add recently used transitions and add a custom transition in Camtasia 2023 is extremely useful.

In this lecture, I will introduce you to the third scene we will build in our video editing guide.

Here we will import another footage file and set it up in our Camtasia project.

This lecture goes over the green screen and remove a color feature in Camtasia. If you ever wanted to key out a color of your footage here is a detailed tutorial on how to do it.

Another useful feature, which was added in Camtasia 2023 is the Remove Background feature. This time we don't need a professional green screen, because this feature tries to artificially with help of AI remove the background behind us. The results are pretty good!

Camtasia allows you to add custom animations that generate custom movement. You can add it in as a zoom-n-pan or directly add a custom animation from the animations tab.

With the help of custom animation in Camtasia, we will transform our camera to go from one place to another. It will also reduce its size while doing so.

The camtasia annotations tab allows you to add shapes, keyboard shortcuts, arrows and blurs. In this lecture we will add different shapes that we can later on animate.

In  this lecture we will add a footage file that we will Grow and Shrink in Camtasia with help of behaviors.

In this lecture we will learn how to apply effects, what effects are available and how they influence files on our timeline in Camtasia.

Here we will add different behaviors like fade,  drifting, reveal, scale, fly in etc.

This is the introduction to Scene 4 of our video project.

I will show you how I design lower thirds in camtasia. We can use them to introduce ourselves or display keyboard shortcuts.

This lecture will be about adding Sketches in Camtasia. In the annotations tab there is a dedicated place for "Sketch Motion" that we can utilize when explaining things in our video.

This is a special lecture that explains a few new features that have been added in Camtasia 2023 so we know how to use and work with it.

The ZOOM-N-PAN feature in Camtasia is a unique feature that allows us to zoom in and zoom out into our footage file.

In this lecture we keep exploring the annotations tab while we're at it. Let us add a few effects like Blur, highlight or pixelate to see how they operate in Camtasia.

In this lecture we will use the Spotlight feature to showcase just a part of our screen.

This is the introduction to Scene 5 of our video project in Camtasia.

Camtasia allows you to take any video footage file and artificially extend it duration by freezing the last selected frame. This comes in handy in situations where you need to display something for a while longer, even if the video itself looks frozen.

Camtasia allows us to add shapes of our desired colors. We will use our color scheme and the Color Picker to pick the appropriate color for the background.

In this lecture we will start to design our bulletpoints in Camtasia. This is a perfect lecture for anyone wanting to create explainer videos with multiple points on the screen.

We are adding text and thinking of ways to animate it. Let me show you custom behavior options  you can change for text shapes in Camtasia.

We will use shortcuts in Camtasia to duplicate text and prepare our bulletpoint list.

In this Camtasia 2023 lecture we will finish up the video by showcasing a smooth zoom into the Camtasia logo.

In this lecture we will learn how to use the Screen Recorder in Camtasia. This feature wasn't much different in older versions so it doesn't matter if you use Camtasia Studio 9, Camtasia 2020, Camtasia 2021, Camtasia 2022 or Camtasia 2023 it will work the same way. You can record your screen and camera with the Camtasia recorder.

The Camtasia recorder produces TREC files that we can use within the editor. Once we edit and save that file we will have a TSCproj file which is essential our Camtasia project. That project can be further edited and used in Camtasia.

One of the more interesting features and reasons why we should use the Camtasia recorder instead of just recording an MP4 file is the mouse features. Thanks to Camtasia, the trec file holds information about our mouse movements. Thanks to that we can change how the cursor looks, make it bigger or highlight our clicks since all that is recorded within the file.

Another interesting feature that has been added in Camtasia 2022 and Camtasia 2023 (and is present it any newer version) is adding custom movement to our mouse. Alternatively, we can alter the movement that is already set for our mouse to make it a little smoother.

If some of our used assets get moved Camtasia has trouble opening our project file. In that case, just like in any other program of that sort we need to "relink" our missing assets. You need to point Camtasia to where the files went in order to regain all your editing.
