C Major chord scales and modal patterns

The focus for this course comes from the publication of an earlier work on the caged guitar system. This builds on that by taking an in depth look at the modes of the C major scale and where they are found.

Modes are the scales that come off the notes of the parent scale in this case the C major.

From a playing perspective, they provide what is in essence seven positions and shapes for using the C major scale anywhere on the fret board.

These shapes can be moved and used in the same manner over any of the 12 keys on the guitar. Thus opening up a wealth of possibilities for the guitarist to explore.

So with that in mind.

This course provides lessons showing the modal patterns of C major as they occur across the guitar.

With six string scale runs starting on the bass E string.

Five string scale runs starting on the bass A string.

Four string sale runs starting on the D string.

Three string scale runs starting on the G string.
