This course aims at introducing students to ethical reasoning applied to Business. Since the course is designed for the maximum application to real life, students will be invited to analyze day-to-day practices and decision-making processes in business contexts making use of the ethical and meta ethical theories learned through the course. Beware that your goal in taking the course is not merely to acquire an understanding of how various philosophers have responded to ethical dilemmas, but to put forward arguments and ideas for justifying certain actions taken by stakeholders (Society, Partners/Providers, Investors, Customers, and Employees) and corporations.
The course is composed of 5 lessons developed to provide a solid base for ethical decisions. Together we will go through ethical doctrines such as Utilitarianism and Deontology seeking to answer questions such as "What is the best action in this particular context?", "Can corporations be held morally responsible?", "To what extent can a company be socially responsible?".
More than a journey through Business Ethics, this course can serve as an introduction to Philosophy and Ethics. Great philosophers of all times will be contemplated as well as important thinkers and noble prize winners in economy and business.

Maira de Cinque is a Canada based Philosopher, PhD in Ethics and Political Philosophy. She has 15 years of experience in the education field and is currently teaching Business Ethics at a renowned university in BC.
