This this video I am going to introduce the Data Analyst Training Course and tell you a bit more about what your are going to learn.
In this lesson, we are going to unpack what exactly an Analyst is . We will take the traditional definition of a Data Analyst and expand it into a working definition which we will use through the rest of the course.
The overarching goal is this lesson for you to come away with a complete understanding of what an Analyst is. By that, I mean that you will be able to easily articulate and define the real meaning of the title is all of its contexts.
Now that we’ve defined what as Analyst is, in this lesson we are going to learn what the role of an Analyst is. So, in other words, what do Analysts do on a daily basis. We will focus on four key tasks in an Analysts role including simplification, refinement, insights, and facilitation.
By the end of this lesson, you will know what an Analyst is and what they do. What you learn in this lesson will form the foundation for the way we will build you into an Analyst.
We now know what an analyst is and what their role is. But what makes an analyst tick? Well, there are several characteristics that most Analysts have that we are going to explore in this lesson.
The goal of this lesson is to introduce you to the qualities of a good Analyst by looking at a few of their main traits. By the end of this lesson, you should have an understanding why Analysts are who they are.
An Analyst thinks a bit differently than most. In this lesson, we are going to learn how to think like an Analyst. We are going to do this by deploying a few thinking techniques that Analysts use on a daily basis and are ingrained in their thought process’.
The goal of this lesson is to teach you the techniques that help Analysts fulfill their role. By the end of this lesson, you will have learned the fundamentals that we will put into practice through the remainder of the course.
Having a few points of reference is helpful when trying to learn a new skill. In this course, the point of reference will be other Analysts that I admire. You may recognize a few of the names we will be taking a look at in this lesson and that’s great. You may, however, not thought of them in the context of being Analysts.
The goal in this lesson is to expand who and what you think an Analyst is. I hope to give you concrete examples of what a great Analyst is and why they are more than just the traditional definition may suggest.
In this lesson, we are going to set the stage for what you will learn in Module 2 – Tools. We will lay out the upcoming lessons and outline how the rest of the course will be structured.
This lesson will give you a preview of things to come. The goal of this lesson should include you thinking how you can apply the knowledge you’ve learned in Module 1 to this Module.
Excel is the analytical tool of choice for many Analysts. In this lesson, you are going to be introduced to Excel and learn how it is structured as we explore its menus and other functionality.
The goal of this lesson is for you to understand the fundamentals of Excel from a foundational standpoint. We will build on the basics of this lesson as we move through the course.
The structure of cells, rows, and columns in Excel lends itself well to customization via formatting. Whether you are changing the color of a cell or row or changing a cell value from numbers to currency, you will learn how to do so in this lesson.
In this lesson, you will learn how to do the majority of the formatting that Analyst use on a daily basis. Upon completion of this lesson, you will know how to change colors, sizes and cell value formats.
Copying and pasting data in Excel is one of the applications more essential functions, but arguably it is one of its most used. In this lesson, we will learn how a variety of copy and pasting techniques that Analysts use in analysis’.
You will learn how to copy and paste data in numerous ways as well as the correct application for each.
Data presentation is a vital part of an Analysts role, and sorting plays a role in that. Learning how to sort data in Excel can help your analysis and dataset become a bit more intuitive and become more actionable to the consumers of the analysis.
In this lesson, you will learn how to sort data alphabetically, numerically and a combination of both.
Excel has some very powerful features and naming cells and ranges is one of them. In this lesson, you will learn how to name both cells and ranges which will help improve the efficiency of your analysis.
At the end of this lesson, you will not only know how to name cells and ranges but understand their practical application in an analysis.
As we learned in Module 1, one part of an Analysts role is to simplify and refine data by cleaning it up. Cleaning data and preparing it for analysis is one of the primary responsibilities of an Analyst. In this lesson, you will learn how to clean data by removing unnecessary duplicate data.
You will learn how to use check for duplicate data and how to use the “Remove Duplicates” functionality in Excel.
Printing an analysis in Excel seems like a simple concept, but as with most things, there is a correct way to do it. In this lesson, you will learn how to set the print area in Excel correctly.
The goal of this lesson is to save trees as well as your sanity.
The power in Excel lives in its formulas. Think of the formulas in Excel as the engine of the application. In this lesson, we are going to introduce formulas and teach you a few basic yet, robust formulas that you will no doubt use as an Analyst.
The goal of this lesson is to start introducing you to formulas and how they work in Excel. You will learn how to enter a formula correctly and how to use several structural formulas.
Any analysis done is Excel is best complete efficiently. Shortcuts are one way to ensure that happens. Click the button above to download a list of frequently used Excel shortcuts.

In this lesson you are going to learn a few intermediate formulas including SumIf, CountIf and If statements.
The goal of this lesson is to introduce to these intermediate formulas and the application for each.
If statements are one of the more robust formulas in Excel. In this lesson you will learn how to enter a basic if statement in Excel.
The goal of this lesson is to start introducing you to the if statement and how it can be used in the summarization and refinement phases of an analysis.
In this lesson you are going to learn how to use the sum if formula to sum or add up numerical values based on a specific criteria.
The goal of this lesson is to teach you how and when to use the sum if formula.
In this lesson you are going to learn how to use the count if formula to quickly and easily count values based on a certain criteria.
The goal of this lesson is to teach you how and when to use the count if formula.
We will build on what you’ve learned about if statements and combine them with the OR formula.
The goal of this lesson is to start introducing you to the if statement and how it can be used in the summarization and refinement phases of an analysis.
We will build on what you’ve learned about if statements and combine them with the AND formula.

Lookup functions are incredibly useful for adding speed and efficiency to an analysis especially when it comes to combining data from 2 or more datasets.
The goal of this lesson is to introduce you to the vlookup and hlookup formula.
In this lesson you will learn how to use lookup formulas, including the vlookup and hlookup formulas, to combine data from two different datasets based on a common attribute.
The goal of this lesson is for you to understand how lookup formulas work and how you can use them in practice.
This lesson will introduce you to one of the more powerful built-in tools in Excel – pivot tables.
The goal of this lesson is to give you a tour of a pivot table and what goes into creating one.
In this lesson we will build on what we learned in the pivot table introduction lesson with a few hands-on exercises.
The goal of this lesson is for you to gain practical real-world experience with pivot tables.

***I will teach you the exact same Excel data analysis skills that took me 10,000+ hours to master in a fraction of the time! ***
Where do I start?
That’s the question I had when I wanted to learn how to analyze data in Excel.
I had the basics of Excel down, but I wanted to become an Excel data wizard!
I heard of these Excel data Jedis that could conjure up magic in every spreadsheet!
They could do things that I never thought possible.
I wanted to be one of them!
But I didn't know how or have a path to achieve my goal.
So what did I do?
Well, that's a great question. I’m glad you asked.
You see, the answer is quite boring.
I got a job.
Yup, a job.
That’s probably not the answer you were expecting! But it's true!
But what happened next was so incredible.
With that job, I spent thousands of hours in Excel.
Every single day, I started and ended my day inside an Excel spreadsheet.
I learned to love those hours.
It became like a game to me. I took raw data, threw in some formulas, and the outcome was pure magic!
Now, please don't misunderstand me.
None of it was easy. I had to work hard.
But every day I learned a little more and honed my Excel skills.
Until one day, I became the Excel wizard I dreamed of becoming!
And that brings me to this course.
I want to teach you the exact same skills I learned over those 1000’s of hours in one easy-to-follow course.
Not sure I can make you an Excel data wizard?
