Description

Conversation happens in the moment, involves at least one other person, and can't be scripted ahead.  This can be scary.

At the end of this course, you'll have a clearer sense of how to talk with and listen to people in order to recommend goods or services that meet their needs. You'll have some clear steps to take the complex task of conversation and break it down in simple steps, including what you can prepare ahead. We'll look at starting a conversation, learning about and understanding people's needs, and how to overcome common obstacles, including the fear of not knowing what to say.

The course is designed as a series of 11 short videos with a way to check your understanding for each section except the intro. We will look at the approach, the challenges, and adapting face to face guidelines to phone or video calls. We will cover the following topics:

How to start a conversation, relate to people, and find common ground.

How to ask questions, understand people's needs, and how you can help.

How to overcome the fear of not knowing what to say and how to overcome objections.

How to develop the right mindset to communicate well and how to adapt to a phone or video conversation.

Who this course is for:

  • I designed this course for adults who are training in new careers or for promotions which involve building rapport with people through conversations. Talking with people leads to sales as you match what they need with what you have. The sales training may not cover empathy, understanding, and conversation skills as much.
