- Some basic understanding of or experience in project management and business analysis may be helpful but is not a must for this course
I've been doing business analysis for more than a decade, and what I've learnt is that the BA skills are in demand in practically any industry or role. The ability to understand a bigger picture, analyse current state and future state, define the best change strategy and make sure the change is executed in a controlled way are the skills that you will need not only as a business analyst, but also as a project manager, a change manager, an operations specialist, an architect or a strategist.
This course will help you build a holistic understanding of business analysis knowledge areas and techniques that you can apply in your work from day one. It is predominantly following the structure of the Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) with occasional extra references and materials to better explain specific concepts or provide with a broader picture.
You will also get a list of references to books and standards that will help you build better understanding of particular areas of business analysis, and my personal advice on what to focus on to do specific tasks better.
As a bonus, you will get CCBA®/CBAP® sample exam questions with detailed explanations of the answers as your course quizzes to test your knowledge before going for a real exam.
I hope you'll enjoy!
This course will offer:
Overview of business analysis knowledge areas and techniques
Examples and practical explanations of sometimes complicated definitions from the BABOK® Guide and other resources
References to learning materials such as sections of the Guide, complementary standards and books, articles
A way to systematize your experience and bring it into a common BA method through IIBA® Core Concept Model™ and the BABOK® knowledge areas
Bite-sized videos to keep learning on the go or when you have time
Quizzes with detailed explanations of the answers to check your knowledge
A sample set of CCBA®/CBAP® exam questions with detailed explanations of answers to prepare for the exam
A way to earn a few extra PDUs/CDUs online (you can get up to 1 PDU/CDU for every hour of the course + every hour you actually spend on quizzes, sample test and studying the referred materials, typically equating to ~21 PDU/CDU per course - always refer to the latest certification handbook for details).
The course is 100% aligned with the Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) - the key standard explaining the business analysis profession. Created by the IIBA, it is probably the best and most comprehensive guide into all the knowledge areas, hard and soft skills required to become a successful business analyst.
In addition to the Guide, IIBA offers a set of professional certifications for business analysis professionals:
The Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™ (ECBA™) which tests foundational knowledge on how to approach business analysis according to the BABOK® Guide
The Certification of Capability in Business Analysis™ (CCBA®) which recognises your 2 - 3 years of experience and tests the ability to take on larger and or more complex project responsibilities
The Certified Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP®) which tests your extensive (5+ years) business analysis experience and in-depth knowledge of the profession. The CBAP® recipients are recognised as the leading, senior members of the BA community.
This course provides with foundation and advice to prepare for the certifications listed above and has a set of sample exam questions to test your readiness.
But more importantly, it will help you become a better business analyst!
