Business Analysis is the practice of enabling change in an organizational context, by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders. The set of tasks and techniques that are used to perform business analysis are defined in A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK Guide).

Business analysis is the set of tasks and techniques performed by the business analyst to work as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of an organization, and to recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals and strategic objectives.

International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) is the independent non-profit professional association for the growing field of business analysis. The goal of IIBA is to create greater awareness of the Business Analysis (BA) profession by defining what is business analysis and working towards recognition of the value of the business analyst role in the organization. BA can help the organization to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace and enable the organization to succeed.
