Welcome to the Journey of Data Center Infrastructures. This course is complete lifecycle of DC Infrastructure. Starting with planning, design, build and operate data center Infrastructure.
In this lecture student will learn about various component require to build Data Center from beginning. Like Power, Cooling, Rack, Camera Surveillance System, Fire Management system etc.
Once Space allocated to build Data Center, first thing is to do prepare floor layout. To prepare layout you need to plan which space to use for what.
After allocating space to desired component in Data Center, its time to provide Power into the facility from main power grid to IT equipment through various Power Distribution channel with redundancy.
Cooling IT equipment is very crucial, there are various cooling method available to maintain temperature of Data Center facility and IT equipment.
Air Cooling method is largely used in many data center since beginning. Lets learn how Air Cooling works
High Density / high power data center require Liquid Cooling to maintain temperature for IT equipment. Various Large Data Center started using Liquid Cooling method is their large scale facility.
Its very effective and optimized method for providing cooling direct to component which generate lots of heat. This method called Direct to Chip Liquid Cooling.
Lets discuss difference between Air Cooling and Liquid Cooling method.
There are various type of Rack available, you need to select right one after analyzing your al requirement.
Once you selected Rack, first thing is to provide Power to Rack, lets learn how Rack gets power from main power grid and best practice to install Rack PDU.
Once power provide to Rack, there are various equipment need to install like Servers, Switches, Patch Panel, Blank panels etc.
Before installing equipment you must create your Rack Layout using various best practice. This has to be done with lots of planning and after careful consideration, as removing and installing back equipment cost you extra effort, time and $$$$.
In smaller facility where its not possible or expensive to install complete infra like Power Backup, Cooling, Hot and Cold Aisle containment, there are various vendor provide Smart Rack which has pre-installed equipment like UPS, Air Conditioner, Battery, Smart PDU, Intelligent Patch Panel, Camera, Fire and Smoke Detection system, Environmental monitoring sensor etc. And entire rack can be managed, monitored and controlled remotely by user seating in NOC.
After devices installed in Rack, there is a need to connect each devices within a Rack and between a Rack. Lets understand various method of connecting IT equipment in Data Center Facility.
Its very critical to have Cable Matrix ready on paper before start doing patching and connectivity. Engineer does connectivity between Devices using Cable matrix to make sure connectivity done as per planned. Updating cable matrix is continuous process and keeping in Data base for future changes or projection and Operation team for any troubleshooting.
Using Intelligent patching, all connection can be monitored, tracked and control remotely. Lets learn how to use this technology and benefits of the same
Monitoring of DC Infrastructure is very crucial for maintaining, managing and for any change management in Data Center. DCIM is the software provided by various vendor does complete operation life cycle of Data Center infrastructure, lets learn how this tool works, what are all it monitors and what to do for end to end monitoring, maintenance and alert mechanism.
Thank you for subscribing and going through journey of building Data Center Infrastructure along with me. I hope you find this course useful to able to utilize to plan, design, build and operate your / someone else Data Center Infrastructure.
This course is for the engineer or architecture who works on Planning, Designing, Deploying or Operating Data Center Infrastructure in their day to day job or for the one who will be doing in their Job and need to learn how to plan, design, build and deploy data center from Beginning.
Through the various videos we will discuss complete lifecycle of data center infrastructure management
This course start with what all component required to build data center and then continue journey with space allocation to these component and then provide Power to IT Equipment from main power greed through various Power Distribution panel.
After providing power, journey continue with how to cool these Equipment using both Air and Liquid cooling method.
Once base infra ready, its time to deploy Rack and install Server, Switches and other supported equipment to run Rack with various best practices.
After Rack installed, Cabling structure need to define for connectivity between IT equipment within a Rack and between a Racks. We will discuss about various method for Cabling structure in Data Center.
Once Data Center Infrastructure is ready, its time to integrate with Tools (EMS / NMS) for NOC engineer to monitor, maintain and operate Data Center on day to day basis. We will discuss on what tool to use to monitor DC Infrastructure component, what it does and how to integrate with NMS.
