Build A WordPress Website in One Afternoon! (Step by Step)

In this lecture we are going to registering for a domain name and web hosting (using HostGator). I will also show you how to get your first months hosting for only one penny!

Then we will move onto installing WordPress onto our new hosting and domain name. We will do this using what is known as the cPanel (in HostGator).

In this lecture I will cover how to log into WordPress. After-all, We won't be able to do much if we don't know how to log in!

When we log in, we will be brought straight into the "WordPress Dashboard" where we can add, or change any of our websites content from.

In this lecture we will cover how to change our WordPress (Admin) Password which we use to log into our website. When we first install WordPress we are assigned a random (hard to remember) password. Here we will change it to something we can actually remember!

This is more of a personal preference than anything else, but in this lecture we are going to be covering how to add OR remove the WWW. from our WordPress websites domain name.

This lecture is going to cover the two different methods of installing WordPress themes, which in turn will transform the look and feel of our entire website.

This lecture is going to cover the two different methods of installing WordPress PLUGINS, which we can then use to add a bunch of different features to our new WordPress website (or blog!).

Here we are going to be covering probably one of the most important parts of building our website, and that is ADDING PAGES to it!

I will cover how to add the following:

• Adding Title & Text
• Different Heading Sizes (as well as Bold, Italics, etc)
• Images

Then we will also covering SAVING our Pages as DRAFTS to edit again later, and then of course how to publish our new pages to our website.

In the last lecture we looked at PAGES, in this one we will be covering how to add BLOG POSTS on our website. Blog posts are NOT ONLY for blogs.

The steps are very similar to adding pages, but there are a few minor differences that we will cover here.

Here we will be choosing and assigning whichever page we would like to use for our websites homepage (the first page of our website).

In this lecture we will go over the different COMMENT settings on our WordPress website.

Here we will be creating custom NAVIGATION MENUS to help us organize our websites different pages and posts.

In this lecture we are going to be editing what is known as our "Sidebar", and then we can use the same method to change any of our websites "Widget Areas".

In this lecture we will be embedding videos on to our website, and we will also cover why you should NEVER upload videos directly to WordPress (even though we have the option to).

Here we are going to cover how to add images to our different sidebars and widget areas on WordPress.

In this lecture we will cover setting up Google Analytics on our new WordPress website, this way we can track how well our site is performing!
