Learning Experience
We've tailored our course to suit fast-paced lifestyles, with video lengths intentionally kept short—just about the length of a latte break! Each lesson is coupled with a comprehensive workbook in PDF format to strengthen your learning and serve as a practical resource as you apply new skills.
I will explain why a personal brand and your website are your best source of income protection.
This is the long form article, explaining how having a personal brand protects you from unemployment.
In this lesson, we will create your personal statement. This will help you decide what you stand for and who you will provide your goods and services to. It's important to have a written mission, as it acts like a north star, keeping you on track.
Write Your Personal Brand Statement
Your personal brand statement is one of the most important tools you can have when building your professional identity. It’s a short sentence that clearly says who you help, what you do, and why it matters — in a way that’s easy to remember and repeat.
Many people struggle to explain what they do in a way that sounds confident and clear. A strong personal brand statement helps you avoid long, confusing introductions and gives you a simple message you can use anywhere — in your LinkedIn profile, your website, emails, or when meeting people in person.
This workbook helps you write that message step by step. First, you’ll learn the difference between your brand statement and your personal story. Your brand statement is short and to the point. Your story explains how you got here and adds personality. Both are important, and you’ll learn how to use each one well.
Then you’ll work through a simple formula:
“I help [WHO] by [WHAT], so they can [WHY].”
Using real examples and guided exercises, the workbook will help you:
Choose the right audience
Describe your skills and services
Explain the results you help people get
You’ll draft a few versions of your brand statement, test them for clarity and honesty, and then choose your final version.
Next, you’ll learn where and how to use your new statement — online and in real-life conversations — so that people remember you and understand what you’re all about. You’ll also get tips for keeping it visible and top of mind, from printing it out for your desk to using it as a screensaver or on your website.
Your personal brand statement can help you:
Make a strong first impression
Build trust faster with potential clients or collaborators
Stay focused on your goals
Make better decisions about how you present yourself
It’s especially helpful if you’re starting something new — like moving into consulting, coaching, or board roles — and want to show up with confidence and clarity.
This workbook makes the process simple, even if you don’t feel confident writing about yourself. You can come back to it anytime as your brand grows and changes.
Now that you've watched the short video, you can download the workbook and complete your own story.
This audio will introduce the different types of story frameworks that you can use. It means that you don't have to rely on just one story for all occasions. You can mix and match according to the situation.
Telling your personal story well is one of the most powerful tools you have to build trust and connect with others. In this lesson you will learn what makes a good story, so that you can start to think about stories of your own to share.
In this short article you'll see that there are 6 different types of story that you can play with. In this way you don't have to be limited to one "hero" journey story, but rather make up stories for each situation using these frameworks.
Choosing your colour palette is a central part of creating your brand DNA.
In this lesson, we're going to look at the impact of colour psychology and then show you the website that you can use to decide on your palette.
The sites I reference are Coolors.co and Pantone.com
The workbook takes you through what to think about, and the places that you can go to choose your colours.
This is an article which explains how to choose your colour palette, and what it means to choose the best colours for you.
In this lesson, we're going to look at the typeface that you choose for your branding and the font selection.
While often used interchangeably, a "font and typeface are not the same.
"Typeface" refers to the overall design of a set of characters, while a "font" is a specific variation within that design, like a particular weight or style of a typeface, such as "bold" or "italic" within a typeface like Helvetica.
This article explains the rationale behind choosing your type face and fonts.
This is a fun podcast episode in which our virtual hosts, bob & barbara, are discussing the role of logos in our every day lives.
In this lesson we're going to show you how to create your own personal logo.
I'm going to show you how to design one for free which is going to give you a reasonable perhaps more conservative approach, and to ideate many options with an AI powered app which has a small fee.
This workbook is also in the downloads.
A quick guide is also in the downloads if you just want the step by step instructions.
To design a logo you can use a platform like Canva but that requires some design skills. An alternative is to use one of the many AI apps which are available now and create really amazing designs almost instantly, which can be then downloaded as a set of brand assets.
You might want to invest in a photographer. They will really bring out the best in you, and will bring their experience of what looks good.
So in this lesson we explore getting professional photographs taken for your biography and website.
In the downloads are the resources that you need to help you find a photographer, and to prepare yourself for the shoot.
Personal brand check list.
Where to find photographers
Email template to reach out to photographers
Photo shoot prep list.
I've included the option of working with a real photographer because they will give you the best possible result.
AI offers an amazing opportunity to create headshots quickly, cheaply and without leaving your office!
I've tried a couple of these sites, and found Dreamwave to create the images which are close enough to my original photos as to be able to use the AI images for my professional headshots.
My clients are also using Dreamwave as you can see from Paul Meyer's example.
After this lesson you will be able to get your domain name registered. It's not that difficult to do.
This is the written up notes for you to follow how to set up your domain name.
Building your site is now really simple and doesn't require coding skills. I've included an overview of the value of having a site, and considerations that you will want to think about.
And I've also included the instructions to follow. The on screen instructions will also be fine for you to follow, but these give you a heads up.
I've included step-by-step instructions to follow so that you can see how easy it is to set up a site on GoDaddy. Inside the platform it is very intuitive and so you may not even need these but at least you'll be prepared before you log on.
In this workbook you will read not only the script from the video, but additional prompt questions which you can use in your work with ChatGPT.
The overall message here is to use AI as your partner, not your replacement, when it comes to writing authentic content for your blog.
This is the written instruction on how to use AI tools; notably we use ChatGPT and Grammarly. There are other AI tools but they all require a subscription even at the lowest level.
