Hello, hello!
You're here! I'm so glad you're here.
Welcome to Breathe Your Way To Wellbeing: An Introduction To Breathwork. My name is Kat Stott, and I'm going to be guiding you through this free course.
In this course, you will experience a taste of the transformative power of breathwork and learn how to incorporate it into your daily life.
I’ll start by answering some of the most commonly asked questions about breathwork so that you can understand what it is, why you would want to do it, and how it works. At the end of the course, I will also lead you through a 20-minute breathwork session so that you can experience it for yourself in a safe and gentle way.
Together, we will explore the power of the breath and how it can help you reduce stress, increase energy levels, and improve your overall wellbeing.
Whether you are new to breathwork or you’re a seasoned breather, if you’re looking to have a breathwork practice on standby for when you need it, or you are simply curious; this course will provide you with the guidance that will help you breathe your way to wellbeing.
By the end of this lesson, you will have a firm understanding of what breathwork is, and you will already be thinking about how it can help you in your own life. Having this understanding, will help you feel a lot more at ease with the topic, if you don't already.
Learn more about some of the benefits of breathwork and how they can positively impact your life. Each breathwork session is unique and everyone has a different experience of it, so you might find that you encounter different benefits. On the whole, these are some of the more common benefits that you can come into contact with.
One of the most important questions to ask about any topic, answered here from my experience. Breathwork should always be offered in a safe container, and within that are some clear contraindications.
They are as follows:
Heart conditions
COPD
PTSD
Psychosis
Bi-polar disorder
Schizophrenia
Epilepsy
High or very low blood pressure
Delicate pregnancy
Recent major surgery
Anyone with any of these contraindications must consult their GP or healthcare provider before taking part in a breathwork session. If these contraindications are not discussed or shared with you before a session, please bring them up with your facilitator.
Knowing how often you should practice breathwork is definitely a personal thing that you need to feel into and attune to. It can also depend on what type of breathwork you are tlaking about. There are vast differences bwteen conscious connected breathing and a daily slow nasal breathing practice.
For the purposes of answering this question from my own experience, I have provided some recommendations based on my own practice.
This is the most exciting part... we are ready to breathe!
Before we begin, a reminder of the contraindications. You will see a full waiver in the next lesson, please make sure you read it from start to finish, thank you.

Find a comfortable, quiet place to sit or lie down, where you won't be disturbed. Grab some headphones for better sound quality, get a blanket, a pillow, and some water. Have some journalling bits and bobs nearby for afterwards, and approach this with an open mind and heart.
Please remember.
Before you embark on your Breathwork Journey… please ensure that you understand that you are responsible for any consequence resulting from it.

Breathwork is an incredible healing modality that enables many positive benefits. Being very topical, it also brings about a great many questions. I've put together some answers to four of the most commonly asked questions about breathwork and I've followed this with a 20-minute guided breathwork session that can be carried out in a safe and supported container.
These are the questions I answer in this course:
What is breathwork?
What are the benefits of breathwork?
Is breathwork safe?
How often should I do breathwork?
Once you have a full understanding of breathwork and the answers to these questions, you can join me as I guide you through a 20-minute breathe, set to a curated playlist. I'll tell you what you need to make yourself comfortable for the session, and I'll give you all the cues you need throughout the session. By the time you get to breathe with me, you will confident and at ease with the topic of breathwork.
By the end of this course, you will have a full understanding of breathwork, how it works, what the benefits are, how safe it is, and how often you should practice it. Plus, you will have first-hand knowledge from experiencing it for yourself.
I hope and trust you will enjoy this course and this beautiful practice!
