Explore a 3d anatomy lab view of the diaphragm, intercostals, lungs, and heart, and learn how rib cage movement drives inhale and exhale.
Explore the active self-regulation loop to turn awareness into intentional decisions for nervous system regulation. Check in, notice states, define direction, and use breathwork and poses to focus.
Prioritize safety by assessing your health status and contraindications before breathwork. Listen to your body's signals, start gradually, avoid forcing, take breaks, and select one breath form at a time.
Guide students through a four-part breath awareness meditation that lifts the spine, invites nasal breathing, and uses body, mind, and intention check-ins to anchor focus.
Settle the body, lift the spine on inhale and ground on exhale, then count breaths as an anchor, observe thoughts, and set a clear intention for meditation.
Practice the four seven eight breath popularized by Doctor Weil to calm the nervous system and ease anxiety, inhaling four, holding seven, and exhaling eight.
Practice humming breath meditation to regulate the nervous system by calming the mind through inward focus, witness awareness, and vagus nerve breathing.
Explore energizing upregulating breath practices—hot breath, sun piercing breath, kapalabhati, breath of fire, and bellows breath—to boost prana and energy, with safety considerations.
Practice breath of fire (kapalabhati) with quick exhalations from the diaphragm and a passive inhale, and explore cannon breath through the mouth for cooling, aim for 2–3 breaths per second.
Learn the bellows breath (bhastrika) to stoke your inner fire, boost vitality, and regulate the nervous system through a diaphragmatic, solar-plexus centered energizing breath that fuels your Agni.
Explore how breath work and pranayama regulate the nervous system and deepen self-understanding, and commit to lifelong self-care practices shared in this course.
