Course content

1 section19 lectures3h 52m total length
  • Introduction to the tutorial + grass asset5:21

Explore a deep breakdown of two Breaking Bad scenes in Blender, including camper interior modeling, animation of Jesse and Walter, and desert lighting with four-by-three aspect ratios.

  • Grass7:00

Explore how to create realistic ground and grass in Blender using particle systems, swap assets from 3D Shaker and Quixel Bridge, and customize desert grass materials with Cycles.

  • Swaying grass13:40

Explore how to create swaying grass in Blender using particle systems, hair-to-grass conversion, and multiple force fields. Learn to adjust linear interpolation, keyframes, and linear extrapolation for realistic grass animation.

  • Assets14:34

Learn to import desert assets in Blender with Quixel Bridge and Sketchfab, organize via asset browser, and build materials using albedo, normal, roughness, and ambient occlusion maps.

  • Lighting9:53

Explore Blender lighting techniques by using the Nishita sky texture with dust and ozone controls, adjust sun size, gradient, and color to create foreground separation via a volumetric cube.

  • Post-processing9:17
  • Car animation5:54

Learn to animate a car in Blender by converting a low-poly model, separating wheels, naming parts for rigging, and generating a deformation rig to drive wheel motion with keyframes.

  • Car animation - road17:05

Animate a car along a curved road in Blender by creating a curve path, applying a curve modifier, and using a follow path constraint with keyframes.

  • Modeling - Van interior13:15

Learn to model the van interior from reference images in blender, using loop cuts, extrude along normals, and bevel to shape the interior details.

  • Modeling - Van interior - part 212:47

Learn to model a van interior in blender 4.2 by enabling and using the loop tool, extruding along normals, adding loop cuts, beveling, and refining edges with selection and scaling.

  • Modeling - Van interior - part 321:46

Model van interior by extruding parts, adding loop cuts and bevels, and creating holes with a reference image. Apply knife cuts, boolean operations, bridges, and subdivision surfaces to refine details.

  • Modeling - Van interior - part 414:51

Model a van interior seat in Blender by shaping a cube with extrusion, beveling, and loop cuts, then refine with subdivision surface, displacement textures, and seams for realism.

  • Texturing - part 16:27

Apply wood and concrete textures in Blender using image textures, bump, roughness, and color ramp; set up shader editor, UVs, HDRi lighting, and color adjustments to achieve a realistic material.

  • Texturing - part 218:19

Master blender texturing by creating black and glass materials, applying image and concrete textures, adjusting roughness and bump with noise, and using smart uv projection for realistic renders.

  • Details15:43

Learn to import a cooling fan model from Sketchfab into Blender, optimize geometry with decimate and cleanup, rig animation with keyframes and parenting, and manage materials and scene cleanup.

  • Building the scene14:00

Create the scene in Blender by replacing a cube with a camper, importing an interior, animating along a path, and setting camera, HDR lighting, and panoramic render settings.

  • Camper import13:24

Import a free camper model from Sketchfab or CGTrader, clean and arrange it in Blender, then rig, texture, and render with depth of field for a realistic interior scene.

  • Human models11:11

Import Jesse and Walter with hazmat suit, scale to real human size, apply transforms, align in front orthographic view, unwrap with smart uv projection, export FBX for Mixamo.

  • Environment8:16

Learn to build a realistic Blender environment using dome projection, dry maker textures, and a ground plane with shadows; adjust textures, lighting, and perspective to simulate a true 3d space.

Requirements

  • Free software Blender. No previous experience is necessary.

Description

I recently created a Breaking Bad animation about 1 minute long, which I published on my YouTube channel together with a breakdown tutorial video.

The breakdown tutorial is a short section of all scenes, but 20 minutes is too short to describe what the process of creating an animation like this looks like.

Many people have asked me if I can record a more detailed tutorial in which I explain what the process actually looks like.

In this tutorial I did exactly that - I recorded a cca. 4-hour-long detailed tutorial on how I created two scenes from my animation.

In the first scene, we will talk in detail about the assets I use, lighting, post-processing, animation and more. This part of the tutorial lasts one hour and we go through all the parts of creating a scene.

In the second part of the tutorial, we will talk about the car or camper animation. I will introduce you to the free Rigacar addon that we will use to animate the camper. The whole process is step-by-step and easy to follow.

After that, we will model and texturize the camper interior step-by-step as well. This part of the tutorial lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes.

After completing this part of the tutorial, you should get something like this.

After that, I will show you where to find, how to animate the folk characters (Walter and Jessie), and how to insert them into the scene.

Finally, we will create an environment and make the first renders.

In addition to the tutorial, I will share with you resources and assets that I can share, as well as many useful links.

Who this course is for:

  • For blender beginners as well as more advanced users.
