What you'll learn
- You will learn how to be a safe and competent home massager therapist. You will be able to apply these theoretical and practical skills on family and friends.
- There are no requirements to be able to do this course. It is set at beginner level and is suitable for everyone, even for CPD purposes.
This course is designed from an accredited course and introduces the complete beginner to some of the theoretical subjects and practical application of body massage. It can also be used by professional massage therapists who wish take a course for basic revision or CPD purposes, and maybe gain some extra perspective or different massage techniques.

Lesson 1, Introduction to the course.
Lesson 2, History and philosophy of massage.
Lesson 3, Setting the scene.
Lesson 4, Mind, body and spiritual connection to health and balance.
Lesson 5, Self-care.
Lesson 6, Basic health, safety and hygiene considerations.
Lesson 7, Contra-indications to massage (reasons why you shouldn't do it).
Lesson 8, Contra-actions to massage (Things that can happen after e.g. healing crisis, and why after care advice is important).
Lesson 9, Practical demonstration of body massage in the face up (supine) position.
Lesson 10, Practical demonstration of body massage techniques in the face down (prone) position.
Lesson 11, What to look out for in a professional massage therapists training course, including legal considerations.
Upon successful completion you should be safe and competent to offer basic body massage to your family and friends for general relaxation purposes. You will be able to use these skills and transfer them to undertake a professional course in the future should you wish. This course may be used as an entry qualification onto other courses subject to their individual entrance requirements.

- This course is designed to introduce to the student some basic theory and practical skills in body massage. It will form a foundation upon which they can build on if they wish to progress to a professional level.
Dr. Nicky Pearce first started his career in Beauty Therapy as one of the first fully qualified male Beauty Therapists/Electrologists in the UK. He then went on to university to study Applied Microbiology and Biochemistry and then trained in the NHS as a Podiatrist. He holds post-graduate Masters and Professional Doctorate qualifications and is State Registered. He has been in clinical practice since first graduating in 1993. Having many years of experience in teaching, researching, writing textbooks etc. He has been an educational advisor for colleges and industry lead bodies for syllabus' and national occupational standards and has an Ofqual regulated teaching and internal quality assurance qualification.
Nicky is the owner of Natural Arts Clinic in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, and the director of BIOHACK products, as well as the Principal at the Universal College of Health Sciences (UK) UCHSc. He really enjoys teaching and believes that everyone should have access to education, personal and professional development opportunities so that they can become financially independent and free.
