Blockchain Advanced Level: Uses Beyond Bitcoin

To ensure that we are on the same page and that you are able to grasp all the concepts I will be talking about throughout the course, in this lesson I will go over a quick overview of what blockchain is.

In this lesson, I introduce you to  a very special demo blockchain tool which Blockchain Institute of Technology has licensed and made available for you to use in this course.

We will now go over what cryptographic hash functions are as they are a key component used in blockchain to preserve the integrity of the information contained in the blocks.

We will now take the concept of a cryptographic hash and apply it to a block on a blockchain.

Having gone over the concept of a block, we will assemble these blocks into a blockchain and explain how they are tied together using cryptography.

Once we have established how a blockchain ties together blocks using cryptography, it's time to see how having multiple identical copies of the blockchain, containing the same information, helps protect the network from tampering and eliminate having a single point of failure/

We will now explore multiple cryptocurrencies and their uses beyond Bitcoin. We will review how Bitcoin is only ONE cryptocurrency, and a wide range of other cryptocurrencies available.

Let us go into smart contracts and how they enable blockchain to do a wide range of things beyond merely sending and receiving bitcoins and cryptocurrency.

One of the most important concepts in applying blockchain to uses beyond sending and receiving cryptocurrency is the concept of "Digital Tokens" and "Tokenization."

In this lesson we will dive into digital tokens, and explain why they are so important in enabling blockchain uses beyond Bitcoin.

As we have seen the different types of cryptocurrency and explored the concept of digital tokens, it is important to know the difference between cryptocurrency "coins" and "tokens."

At this point, we will move out of the presentation format and go to the Internet to see different cryptocurrency coins and tokens "in the wild", so you are able to see where you can find them, and how you can research and learn from them.

As you will see from this lesson, there is a very large number of cryptocurrencies which do a wide range of different things.

In this lesson we will go over five real business use cases of blockchain beyond Bitcoin.

I have purposely selected these to give you a firm grasp of real use cases of blockchain, rather than much of the hype that you may see around the Internet.

These cases presented have been thoroughly vetted and researched, and I include links which you can visit to review them for yourself if you wish to learn more about them.

One of the hottest areas of opportunity in blockchain beyond Bitcoin is the metaverse.

In this lesson we will explore what the metaverse is, the opportunity that exists and we will take a field trip into multiple different metaverses.

In this lesson, I present to you an example of how it is possible to perform training for physical world tasks in the metaverse through the use of Virtual Reality (VR)

In this lesson we analyze how supply chain management can benefit from using blockchain technology, and we  discuss several key elements of how blockchain is effectively applied to track the movement of physical assets across the supply chain.
