Intro
Really Simple starting point with the Orange Critter just using basic primitives
We introduce the ways that you can get help, support and contribute to the community.
Going into edit mode now with this spikey dino
Practicing our skills in edit mode and looking at the mirror modifier this time whilst making a fun green character
Further developing and practicing of our skills making a simple chicken
This time looking at the mirror modifier and taking a slightly different challenge approach building our model in stages
Section intro
A quick theory lesson on the difference between tris, quads and ngons, and why its important to understand this for modelling
Making a simple spikey club and learning about snapping and overlapping shapes
Blocks and bricks are really often used within modelling so its a great idea to get used to making them, and we’ll use them for a fun portal project later on
Just like blocks and bricks rocks is another really commonly used object so lets figure out how to make them
Using the blocks and rocks to make a portal base
Learning about modifiers like the simple deform to create the top of the portal
Creating crystals for the portal
Starting a new mini project and in this one we make a lamp post, slowly building up your independence.
Now we make the lamp object introducing the skin modifier
Now we work on the base of the model to finish
Finishing the lamp post project with some lighting and textures
Section Intro
Creating more detail in our low poly objects starting with a sword
Continuing from where we left of in the last lecture we start to create an entire armoury with the inclusion of a hammer
This time its a chance for you to have a go by yourself and make a bow and arrow
This time we look at the usefulness of the knife tool for quickly created shapes
Using what we have learnt i challenge you to make a shield by yourself
Now we make a wizards hat
One more item no adventurer should be without is gold coins
We put all the items onto a table to show off the finished collection
Now we start working on a fun cauldron model with tentacles coming out and we advance our learning of different modelling techniques
We work on completing the rest of the cauldron
We look at using curves to model with making a tentacle
Making the tentacle suckers with the help of the addon loop tools
Explore subdivision surface modeling fundamentals, focusing on topology, quad-friendly edge spacing, and practical use of modifiers as you progress from simple shapes to real objects and a laser gun project.
Understanding proximity, or supporting loops for sharp edges
Further Understanding proximity, or supporting loops for sharp edges with the edge crease and bevel options
We take a close look at different ways of sharpening edges with bevels and we discuss the ngon problem
taking everything we have learnt we make a pillar and then turn it into an interesting corridor
Still practicing the idea of supporting loops but this time we look at a new modifier, the screw modifier in order to speed up our workflow
Now practicing the screw modifier by creating some fun potion bottles
Having fun with the text tools but also thinking about what makes good topology and why creating your own letters for something like a logo is often best done manually
This time we look at making a logo in 3d. Its a similar technique to what we have done so far but its a good way to practice topology
Further understanding of how pinching can effect our shape and how we can deal with it
Further understanding of how pinching can effect our shape and how we can deal with it
Now we put our skills to the test building a laser gun starting with the body
Now we complete the shape with the handle
This time we add all the extra bits and pieces to finish our model
Course Wrap Up
Ever get stuck following tutorials step-by-step, only to realise you can’t create something new on your own?
This course is your way out of that loop.
In Blender Skill Builder: Modelling Challenges, you’ll sharpen your modelling skills through a series of fun, incremental projects designed to stretch your creativity and build true mastery - one challenge at a time.
Each task introduces new modelling techniques and encourages you to think like a 3D artist - analysing shapes, simplifying forms and applying the right tools to bring your ideas to life.
You’ll learn hard surface modelling, low poly design and clever use of Blender’s modifiers, all while developing the most important skill of all: independence.
By the end, you won’t just be following along - you’ll be building models from your imagination with confidence and precision.
The “aha” moment comes when you catch yourself creating something completely original… and realise you didn’t need to check a tutorial.
This course is perfect for:
Beginner to intermediate Blender users who want to level up.
Artists tired of relying on tutorials and ready to build their own skills.
Anyone who wants to model faster, smarter, and with real creative control.
You don’t need to be a pro - just bring a basic understanding of Blender’s interface and a willingness to learn through doing.
Stop following, start creating.
Join the Blender Skill Builder: Modelling Challenges course and become the 3D artist you’ve been aiming to be.
