An overview and description of what a Bitcoin transaction is.
Please watch this video. It has an important message about leaving a review for this course.
In this video, I describe how Bitcoin transactions work, and explain how Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin explained the process.
Continuing on the description of how Bitcoin transactions work, we explore further the concept of the "Chain of Digital Signatures."
In this lesson we will take what we have been learning and apply it to a real Bitcoin transaction.
We will now look closer at what that .1 BTC transaction looks like by exploring the anatomy of it.
Let's analyze exactly how Alice's transaction of .1 bitcoins makes its way through the Bitcoin network to eventually reach Ben.
To help you further along, I have included a downloadable PDF infographic describing this entire process.
In this lesson we review the Bitcoin memory pool and how it is integral to the processing of transactions on the Bitcoin network.
In every block, there is a very important transaction called the "Coinbase Transaction."
We will explore in detail what this type of transaction is and why it is so important.
Let's create a real Bitcoin transaction and see the process of how it is sent from one wallet to another. In the process, we will analyze the process of confirming transactions and discuss why Bitcoin transaction confirmations are so important.
After completing the transaction, we now return to the Bitcoin wallet to see that the transaction has been confirmed. Join me as we proceed to visit it on a block explorer so you can see how the Bitcoin blockchain continues to grow on top of the block which was just created with our transaction, adding more confirmations in the process.
I have also included a link to a block explorer showing the transaction we create in the video so you can analyze it yourself. Notice that the number of confirmations will be much higher when you visit the transaction on a block explorer as there will have been more blocks created and added to the blockchain since the time I published this lesson.
Bitcoin has undergone a protocol upgrade called "Segregated Witness" which was implemented as a way of increasing the number of transactions that can fit in a block.
Transactions on a blockchain are permanent and immutable. As a result, Bitcoin keeps a permanent record of every single transaction that has ever been done on Bitcoin. In this lesson, we take a trip through the history of Bitcoin to revisit some very special moments.

"This course was absolutely fantastic!
Even for experienced Bitcoin and Blockchain advocates, there are some mighty fine tidbits in the information presented and taught in this course that are expressed in a very simple and comprehensive way. If anything, that is the one thing I appreciate the most about George's lessons... he takes the technicality and simplifies it so that anyone can understand it and find true value in Blockchain Technology.
Thank you again, George, for all the work you've put forth. Really enjoyed this one and look forward to the next course"
