A checklist of important things to bring to your birth setting.Although some hospitals will have these, make sure to include an eyemask and earplugs, for those who are sensitive to sounds and bright lights.
Because a well-fed body is a well-functioning body—and you deserve to feel steady, supported, and strong as you bring your baby earthside.
Let your birth begin with nourishment. Let’s fuel this journey—together.
This section helps you understand the stages of labor and what to expect in each one. Everyone will have their own unique experience during childbirth, but you will have early labor, active labor, transition, and the phase where we release our baby, sometimes called the pushing phase. The third stage of labor is the delivery of the baby's placenta and the fourth stage is often referred to as the golden hour.
Did you know that your baby is doing JUST AS MUCH WORK during labor as you are? They are rotating and descending downward and they have some pretty tight spots to navigate. There are three bony levels of your pelvic they need to move down through before passing through your pelvic floor and tissues into your vaginal vault for their earthside appearance. Helping your baby through these levels will help them descend with more ease and once you know where baby is located (your birth team can tell you where baby is), you can do mindful movements to help them down.
If you have elected to have an epidural for pain management, peanut ball techniques will allow you to find movement and pelvic opening. These are also great techniques to employ if you are experiencing fatigue and need to rest but would still like t give baby extra space to navigate those bony pelvic levels.
These Labor Coping Tools help all labor scenarios and can be utilized in all birth settings.
