Thank you for signing up for the Beyond the Basics of Self-Publishing, Aspect Two: Editing Course! I’m your instructor and literary chauffeur, Joylynn M. Ross.

As you may have already guessed, the publishing process is no quick sprint. Heck, it’s not even a marathon. It’s an entire journey that never ends . . . and I mean that in the best way possible. Because once you write and publish a piece of work, my friend, you’ve created a legacy, one that, again, will never end (at least not in your lifetime) and will make a difference for generations to come.

Not only is the publishing process a journey, but it’s one you should never attempt to travel alone. And now you don’t have to. You have me and a wonderful bunch of like-minded literary artists and literary professionals who make up the Path To Publishing community tribe members lovingly referred to as Pathfinders. We like to consider ourselves literary architects building literary legacies and literary empires! But more importantly, we consider ourselves family.

I want to let you know that this set of courses--of which this is one aspect--aren't your typical courses. I’ve studied the best when it comes to course creation, for a number of years, I might add. But I break all the rules: from limiting the number of (words) I share on a slide (and you’ll soon find out why, as you would feel cheated if I cheated you out of all the resources I put on the slides), to taking almost every step I’ve ever seen the publishers I’ve worked with and for take to position their authors and books for success. I list them even if you ultimately decide you don’t want to take them. I intentionally want you to know what all of your options are when it comes to achieving publishing success.

When you're done with this course, you'll have a great start on handling the second and critical step of your self-publishing journey: editing. You can then move onto the other aspects, in order or as needed: writing, design, process, marketing, and selling. And the great thing about this platform is that you can work through these courses and their content at your own pace. You can take all the time you need, as all the tools, information, and resources you need to publish like a professional are available on a timetable that works for you.

    I’ll see you inside!

Description

This course is the second in a six-part series that takes you beyond the basics of (self) publishing to learn not only how to write your book, but how to turn it into a book business, leading to both literary and financial literary success.

You can go through the aspects one by one in sequence, or pick the courses that best suit what you need to learn based on where you're currently at on your literary journey.

Adapted from the popular “Act Like an Author, Think Like a Business” conference and companion book, this course is one of six that helps you get started on the writing and publishing process, as well as finish.

The first step is always the biggest, which is writing the book. But this course can help you to take the next step, which is equally as important; the editing of your written work. Ultimately, each step will lead you to your final destination of literary and publishing success.

After you complete this course, you'll be ready to move through the remaining aspects of publishing. Even if you've already written your book, you might find it important to go back and take Aspect 1. Regardless of where you are on your writing and publishing journey, editing is never a step you want to skip. Afterall, this is the step on your journey that will help you release a polished product out into the world.

This course will help you understand all the steps of the editorial process. It will also provide some information about self-editing, working with freelancers, and how to find the latter.

So, continue on your literary journey with your instructor and own personal literary chauffer—award-winning and bestselling author, Joylynn M. Ross—and learn about a book's editorial process today.

Whether you've written and published 0 books or 100, this course will offer new tips and strategies that will add value and benefit to your editing journey.

***The total value for all 6 aspects is right under $1000. Each aspect has been priced accordingly in order to equal the total value. It's not about the time/length of each course, it's about the quality, value, and the benefit they are going to add to your literary and publishing life!
