Another great bonus item for easy fixes is to use a little jump ring with necklaces that don't fit - they have them in the is little Jewelry Kit. I added a youtube video link attached in the resources. Depending on the size you need they also have just the jump rings in a number of sizes. I do like the kit though it has a lot of the goodies in there plus a little ring that helps open and close the jump rings.
If this is your first resin course with me, let's chat about the basics.
I've used this lecture in other resin courses that you may have taken, so please re-watch if you need a refresher.
Students will learn about materials used to correctly measure and mix art resin as well as some quick tips on clean up.
We will not go over how to mix your resin in this course. If you are brand new to resin you may like to first take my first Resin Jewelry course which does cover the mixing. (I have added the information to the Bonus Lecture). If you have other brands of resin to use that's okay, just make sure to follow the directions of your brand. Art resin is my favorite since it has a long cure time and it gives plenty of time to create before it dries. You will need to cut the resin before it is fully cured (Still soft). Once cut within 72 hours it will be fully cured in most cases. Make sure your area is at least 70 Degrees warm to help the resin cure properly.
In this lecture students will pour their mixed clear resin into a mold and learn to add alcohol inks to tint.
In the Lecture we will complete the same steps as above, but this time without a silicone mold.
Students will learn to begin cutting their resin and understand how soft and when to begin cutting into large shapes to begin with. We will use some basic and simple tools, but be careful.
Here students will see how to cut into smaller shapes and fun designs with their resin. We will also cover how to use a small hole puncher for thinner resin.
Now that your pieces have fully cured (24-72 hours) you can begin sanding your sharp edges.
In this lecture students will learn to seal the edges of their art pendants.
For the final steps Students will begin to add the bails to the back for hanging. Once the bails have dried you can add your necklace or chains.
I've added a few extra options that work well with Jewelry making. We'll talk about boxes, findings, and a few other molds that can be used for smaller projects.
Thanks so much for joining me and if you have some left over from this project you can use it for other projects that I cover in other classes.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask in the discussion section and feel free to ask for feedback, that's what I'm here for!
