We take a brief look at the musical alphabet. You will learn how to label the white keys of the piano keyboard. You will learn about the 2 and 3 black keys pattern and how they correspond to the location of the notes, C and F. You will be able to label the white keys of any keyboard, irrespective of the number of keys it has.
In this lecture, you will learn how to name the black piano keys. You will learn about sharps and flats, with an emphasis on sharps, first of all. You will know all the sharp notes of the black piano keys.
This lecture focuses on the flat notes of the black piano keys. By the end of this lecture, you will know the note names of all the black piano keys.
You will learn about enharmonic equivalents and the fact that every black key can have two note names (sharp or flat).
What is a half step? You will learn all about half steps (semitones) on the piano keyboard and how they relate to sharps and flats.
What is a whole step? You will learn all about whole steps (whole tones) on the piano keyboard and how they relate to sharps and flats. You will be provided with examples.
Learn how to label 32-key, 36-key, 37-key, 49-key, 54-key, 61-key, 76-key and 88-key keyboards. You will be shown diagrams of all of these keyboards.
You will learn where middle C is located on the piano as well as 49-key, 61-key, 76-key and 88-key keyboards. Learn where to find middle C, no matter how many keys your keyboard has.
You will learn all about the music staff. You will be able to read notes of the lines and spaces of the treble clef.
You will be able to read notes of the lines and spaces of the bass clef.
Learn all about ledger (leger) lines on the music staff. Learn about middle C on the staff. Understand how you can match notes of the grand staff to the keys of the piano.
What are accidentals? Learn all about the sharp sign and flat sign and their purpose.
Learn how your fingers are numbered. You will be able to play the C major scale on piano with the left hand and right hand. Learn what fingers go where.
Learn the whole step and half step formula for forming any major scale on piano.
The notes of the F major scale. Learn how to form and play the F major scale with the left hand and right hand.
The notes of the G major scale. Learn how to form and play the G major scale with the left hand and right hand.
You will learn the notes of major scales in every key.
Learn the formula for forming major chords. Learn how to play the C, F and G major chords on piano.
Learn the formula for forming minor chords on piano. Learn how to play minor chords as well as additional major chords.
You will learn the notes of major chords in every key.
You will learn the notes of minor chords in all keys.
