Description

This course teaches children (ages 10-14) to fundamentals in game development and computer programming. Kids will use Roblox Studio to create games and learn core concepts in easy, engaging and funny way in a familiar environment for them. The course is project-based and every part of it leads the children through the practical steps of executing the necessary technical tasks.

This course is the first part and the foundation of a larger curriculum oriented towards teaching kids fundamental software development skills. The goal of this part is to get familiar with the platform and the development environment in Roblox. Here is what they will learn:


  • Get familiar with Roblox Studio - the development environment for the Roblox platform.

  • Learn fundamental concepts about how games are created.

  • Create your first game in Roblox.

  • Learn why and how to make a plan before you start developing a game.

  • Learn the core building tools for creating objects in Roblox Studio.

  • Learn how to navigate and structure your project in Roblox Studio and how to create complex objects.

  • Make your first steps in Roblox physics engine.

  • Create step by step practical project from planning to testing and completion.

  • The project is a complex multi-room house which the kids build from the ground up and decorate by themselves.

  • Find and choose a ready made game template and use your house to create a cool game and finish your project.

As a bonus kids will have the chance to join the Roblox Creators Camp which is a free educational Roblox community where they can benefit from having free content on the subject, discussion groups with their peers, work on additional challenges and get live help and guidance from the course instructor.
