Welcome to the course on ''Become a Fashion Photographer and Work for Fashion Magazine''
Photography is the art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. It is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production, recreational purposes, hobby, and mass communication.
Typically, a lens is used to focus the light reflected or emitted from objects into a real image on the light-sensitive surface inside a camera during a timed exposure. With an electronic image sensor, this produces an electrical charge at each pixel, which is electronically processed and stored in a digital image file for subsequent display or processing. The result with photographic emulsion is an invisible latent image, which is later chemically "developed" into a visible image, either negative or positive depending on the purpose of the photographic material and the method of processing. A negative image on film is traditionally used to photographically create a positive image on a paper base, known as a print, either by using an enlarger or by contact printing.
Professional photography is an excellent career choice for anyone who wants to get paid for using their creative talents. It's one of the few fields where age and college degrees aren't as important as a good eye, a quality product, and self-discipline. Photography is a competitive field, so be prepared to start small. Then perfect your craft and build a portfolio of your best work. If becoming a fashion photographer is your dream, it's possible to achieve it with a lot of hard work, talent, and persistence. The field is notoriously tough to break into, but everything is possible, and there are ways to increase your chances for success. Imagine yourself directing a lighting and set crew as you work on capturing the right image of the current "It Girl" making the latest fashion statement. Do you see yourself working for Yves Saint Laurent, Betsey Johnson, or J.Crew? Do you like traveling to Paris, New York, LA, and Milan? Follow the easy steps in the course and you may be on your way to becoming a fashion photographer.
When photography is your passion, deciding to become a professional photographer may seem like an easy decision. Learning how to run a successful photo business, though, is a little more complicated. That's because your success doesn't just rest on your photography skills you have to be able to carry all the administrative duties as well. A career in professional photography can be both lucrative and creatively rewarding if you pursue your passion. While the field is highly competitive and may require a significant investment in time in resources, you can learn technical skills and develop your creative eye to stand out from the rest.
