This is the breakdown of the course set into sections so you can see how it is set out to make it easier to follow. I will update, edit, add things each month to make sure the information is up to date, relevant and easy to follow.
I have created this audio presentation that explains the basic history of addiction.
I have come across this interesting article that I have added as I think it is an interesting read.
In theory the buying behaviour of people should begin to make it that tiny bit easier?
In this section we explore the important question of..... Do you REALLY want sobriety? because before we go any further, before you waste your, mine, AND your loved ones time, effort, money, emotions, hope ask yourself!
Do You Really Want Sobriety????
If the answer is NO!!! Go back to section 1
If the answer is YES!!! Continue!
Now I want to go over the important topic of understanding addiction itself because like anything if you don`t understand it, how can you beat it? You can`t, you can try but it wont work.
So lets learn about addiction so we can beat it.
The 4 c`s of addiction is a common and simplified way of understanding it. It is also a useful way to monitor what stage someone is at on the journey and determining weather you think they need help.
Which ever side of the fence you are on and what stage of the journey you are at, or in other words:
Are you doing this for yourself or someone else? It is important to have a coping mechanism.
We need to set boundaries so we don`t get dragged too far into someone else`s problems, we want to help not interfere.
This section is to explain the importance of creating positive distractions. It is very normal and common when you stop using as GREAT as that is, you will naturally replace the substance with something else! The critical thing is to be aware of this so that you replace it with positive and healthy thing. Here are some ideas of how you can do this.
This is a list of ideas that you can choose from or think of your own. Something you love to do, that you never have done, or maybe something you have been doing but not committed to very much. Once you have decided what it is, save it and add it to the daily and weekly schedule later in the course.
Now you need to choose a creative activity that will distract your mind using your creativity. We all have a creative side, some more than others but it is important to have a way of distracting your mind from temptation. If you can`t find one from the examples you can think of one yourself. Good luck and enjoy.
Meetup is an online platform whereby people can search for things that are happening near them. Use it to see what is happening near you so you can build a support network with people who are experiencing similar things you are.
The idea of this WHOLE course this WHOLE thing we are doing here is to rebuild trust and relationships with your loved ones, whether you are the addict or the sponsor or a loved on helping, it is VITAL that you do not create gossip! my advice is to do this privately and keep it that way.
Be honest with those involved and kindly ask anyone you involve withing your inner circle or/and people that know the addict to keep it private.
If you can`t find anything near you, why not create your own?
Good luck with your search.
Create a meetup account (Its free) search for like minded people and start your new network. Or, why not start your own network?
WHOOOOOFFF!! Are we half way through?!?!?! YES!
Let take a breath and congratulate yourself.
WELL DONE!!
Meditation is such a beautiful thing, in any aspect of life, work, personal, travel, learning, progression, and in this case, helping us on the journey of sobriety!
I explain how to use meditation and I have embedded some great links to some daily meditation and also gong therapy!
Here are the links to the meditation
Now that we are this far, I simply want to say WELL DONE!!!!!
Please tell yourself from this moment going forward WELL DONE!!!!
I know how hard this is, but I also know that you have made such a great decision and before we get to the next section I want you to be proud of yourself! YOU SHOULD BE!
YOUR AMAZING!
What I want you to get from this section after watching this and the following video before we progress to:
Lets find the person you know is there
Is the understanding that there is more to addiction than just the substance abuse, and we need to try our hardest to rebuild the trust, relationship with love, support, connections and positivity.
Try and have an open mind, as I know it is not easy and I am not saying you have not tried to do this already but watching this video should shed new light on this for you.
I hope you learn and enjoy.
This section is about The Rat Park. An extremely interesting way of looking at addiction in general! Watch this video and try to have an open mind.
It will help when trying to put a plan together of how we are going to beat addiction.
