Description

Created as a general course on Literature and Literary Studies, this course offers you video explanations of some of my thoughts on the nature and practice of literary studies.  These video lectures are available on my Youtube channel as well, but in this course format you will have an easy and ordered access to all the materials without having to look for them online. The course, thus, offers you a curated and selected list of some of my exploratory work on literature, literary theory, and postcolonial studies. Another thing that makes this course highly useful to you is that most of the videos have been excerpted from longer webinar sessions and thus offer thoughts in response to audience questions, questions that you might have often thought about as well.

This course is designed for non-traditional learners interested in developing and learning sophisticated ways of thinking and talking about literature and literary studies.

This course is created to enhance your understanding of literary studies and the topics, though varied, are geared towards enabling you to develop a sophisticated and learned way of thinking about English literature and literary studies.  Where possible, I have provided references to written and textual resources on the web.

Here are some of the advantages of taking this course:

  • You will be able to learn about looking at literature in different ways.

  • You will be able to reflect on the nature of literary studies.

  • You will learn how to explain different aspects of English Studies to others.

  • You will develop a nuanced understanding of how to talk about literature.

As a teacher I take pride in being highly responsive to the needs of my students, so at any time if you feel like a concept or a lesson could use more explanation, please never hesitate to contact me through the course messaging system. It would be my pleasure to answer your queries and to make this course even better with your insights and suggestions.
