What you'll learn

  • Basic Knowledge of survey

Course content

1 section8 lectures37m total length
  • Introduction4:55

Explore surveying fundamentals, measuring the relative position of points on and beneath the earth to create maps and plans, including leveling and contour mapping.

  • Principle of Survey4:00

Apply the principle to guide survey work, using a systematic approach to search large areas and then smaller towns, to prevent errors and improve precision.

  • Principle of survey 24:21
  • use of survey4:56

Learn surveying for topographical maps, boundary and engineering plans, and infrastructure alignment of roads, railways, and pipelines; study elevations and drone distance meters, hydrographic and city surveys.

  • Type of Surveying 14:52

Compare plane surveying, which ignores earth curvature for small areas less than 250 kilometres square, with geodetic surveying that aims for greater accuracy on larger areas.

  • Type of Surveying 24:23
  • Type of Surveying 34:53
  • Plan and Maps4:54

Explore how plans and maps use scale to represent large distances, using the ratio of map distance to ground distance to distinguish large, medium, and small scales.

Description

This course is the culmination of the experience gained by me while teaching students at various levels diploma, degree and AME

I have always felt that most of the available course on surveying and levelling take up the subject in a round about and confusing way, In this course, I have tried to explain topics in a direct manner, avoiding unnecessary explanations.

The course covers the syllabi of diploma, degree and AME courses and a few topics are also included to aid practicing engineers.

Features

This course comprises matters related to surveying and mapping in civil engineering. Students will be explained the types of equipment used for land surveying. This includes the equipment used for angle measurement, height measurement, distance measurement and area measurement. Procedure in operating surveying equipment, interpreting the surveying data result and the method in calculating the measurement are also explained.

Field procedures of different types of surveying are illustrated in a systematic manner.

In this course we learned about chain survey, compass survey, plain table survey, levelling, contouring their functions, object and how to use it practically.

Student will have the knowledge of the application of surveying and the equipment used in the construction project

Student will be able to process data obtain in the field and make a topography map and calculate the volume of a land needed.
