Whether you’re working in an office, a factory, a warehouse, a school, or a kitchen, fire safety is something that concerns all of us. Fires can start anywhere, often without warning. And when they do, every second counts.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
Understand how fires start and how they behave.
Identify fire risks in your workplace before they become a problem.
Respond confidently and calmly in an emergency.
Use fire extinguishers correctly and safely.
Help ensure your workplace is prepared, organized, and protected.
Before we can prevent fires or respond to them, we first need to know how fire actually works.
This is the most important part of extinguishing fire.
Fire is not just flames’ It’s a chemical reaction called combustion.
For fire to exist, four things must come together.
In this lesson, we’ll look at how a fire develops over time.
From a tiny flame to a dangerous emergency.
There are five key phases in the life of a fire.
Each one has different risks and warning signs.
Most workplace fires don’t start with an explosion. They begin with something small. Maybe a frayed electrical wire, or a forgotten heater, or even a blocked vent.
In this lesson, we'll begin with one of the biggest causes of fire.
In this lesson, we’ll focus on one of the most important parts of fire safety. And that is, Prevention.
The best fire is the one that never happens, and most fires can be prevented with a bit of planning, some awareness and regular checks.
We'll start with the basics.
In this lesson we’ll talk about fire detection and why those first few seconds matter so much.
The faster a fire is detected, the faster people can respond and the more likely it is that lives and property will be saved.
Having a fire extinguisher is great, but it won’t help if it’s empty, damaged, or expired. Regular maintenance is key!
Inspection prior to use will prevent one arriving at a fire with an empty, damaged or malfunctioning fire extinguisher. Always check before use.
In this lesson, we’ll learn how to safely use a fire extinguisher.
You’ve seen them on walls, in hallways or mounted near exits, but do you actually know how to use one?
Master the P-A-S-S method. Use a portable fire extinguisher to extinguish small fires correctly and safely.
In this final lesson, we’ll talk about what actually happens during a fire emergency, and who does what.
The truth is when the alarm sounds, there’s no time for confusion.
Everyone needs to know their role and act quickly and safely.
Well done. You’ve reached the end of the course and taken a huge step toward improving fire safety in your workplace.
