What you'll learn

  • Test your readiness for AZ-400 across all five skill areas, weighted as in the July 27, 2026 study guide
  • Tell apart Azure DevOps and GitHub features that are easy to confuse, from agents and runners to feeds and alerts
  • Choose the right design when two answers look plausible and one requirement such as cost or security decides
  • Learn from per-option feedback and an explanation with a Microsoft Learn or GitHub Docs link for every question
  • Work through YAML, CLI and configuration details for pipelines, Bicep, deployment slots, OIDC and KQL
  • Finish with a full-length simulation that shows whether you are ready to book the real exam

Description

Have you worked through the AZ-400 learning paths and still don't know whether you are ready to book the exam? These practice tests answer that question and show where your gaps are.

The course contains five practice tests with 100 questions each, 500 in total, written against the AZ-400 study guide with skills measured as of July 27, 2026. Every test follows the official weighting: build and release pipelines take just over half, and the rest covers processes, source control, security and instrumentation.

AZ-400 has no retired predecessor, but its products have changed a lot. Azure AD is now Microsoft Entra ID, GitHub Advanced Security is sold as GitHub Secret Protection and GitHub Code Security, Managed DevOps Pools is the recommended way to scale self-hosted agents, workload identity federation replaces stored secrets, URL ping tests have given way to standard availability tests, and Azure Automation State Configuration is on its way out in favour of Azure Machine Configuration. Practice material written a few years ago still teaches the old answers. These questions follow the current Microsoft Learn and GitHub Docs pages.

The five tests get harder in how the questions are asked, not in how obscure the facts are:

  • Test 1, Groundwork: direct questions, one concept each.

  • Test 2, In Practice: short scenarios that separate features people often mix up.

  • Test 3, Trade-offs: two answers look right and one requirement decides.

  • Test 4, Under the Hood: YAML keywords, task inputs, CLI commands and settings.

  • Test 5, Exam Day: long multi-requirement scenarios and troubleshooting in one timed sitting.

Every answer option has its own feedback that says why it is right or wrong, and what a wrong option actually does. Each question also has an overall explanation with a link to the official documentation, so you can check the source yourself.

After each attempt Udemy shows your score per skill area, so you can revise where it matters. The pass mark is 80% for tests 1 to 4 and 85% for test 5, deliberately higher than the real exam.

What this course is not: it is not a video course and not a copy of the real exam. AZ-400 exam questions are confidential, and nothing here claims to reproduce them. Use these tests alongside the free Microsoft Learn material and hands-on practice to measure and sharpen what you know.

Who this course is for:

  • This course is for developers, infrastructure administrators and platform engineers who are preparing for exam AZ-400: Designing and Implementing Microsoft DevOps Solutions, the exam for the Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert certification. It suits Azure administrators and developers moving into DevOps and platform roles, site reliability and release engineers who want to check their knowledge against the official skills outline, and students or career changers who have worked through the Microsoft Learn paths and want to know whether it has stuck. Team leads, security engineers and technical project managers who work with Azure Boards, branch policies, GitHub Advanced Security or release pipelines will also find the scenarios useful. Many older AZ-400 practice sets still use retired names and features such as Azure AD, a single GitHub Advanced Security product, URL ping tests or the Log Analytics agent; this course follows the current documentation. It is a set of five practice tests with detailed explanations. It is not a video course, and it does not replace hands-on experience or Microsoft's own training.
