Description

In this course the student will gain the essential understanding and knowledge about the automotive engine lubricants. We are going to explore the base oils, will do a comparison of 4 cSt base oils from different group. We are going to see what an oil composition, how automotive engine lubricants are formulated. Also we are going to explore the basic engine oil functions, basic engine oil properties, such as viscosity, flash point. Further we are going to explain what API, ACEA and SAE mean. Why SAE viscosity is important when choosing the right lubricant, how API or ACEA performance level helps us choose the right oil for the right application. That mean the choosing the right SAE viscosity should be appropriate to the working conditions e.g. driving conditions in which the ICE will work. How the oil is have to be ale to resist oxidation, formation of sludge and other negatives effects occuring in the while the automotive engine oil have to have perfect balance whether is new or old, since it changes his composition with the usage e.g. driving. That perfect balance is a key to superior performance of the engine oil, with out affecting the engine work. By the end of the course he should be able to choose the right oil for appropriate application.
