This lecture discusses the categorization of nouns and verbs into Thulathi (Three-Lettered), Ruba'i (Four-Lettered) and, Khumasi (Five-Lettered). In addition to that it also discusses the Morphological Scale or al-Meezan as-Sarfi which is an ingenious model created by morphologists to assess and understand the structure of Arabic words.
This lecture discusses another categorization of nouns and verbs, this time from the perspective of the 'kind' or 'type' of letters they are made up of. The previous categorization was based on the 'number' of the letters they are made up of.
The main reason why morphology takes place in Arabic is to achieve new meanings. New words are formed by changing the structure of the root word to express those meanings. This lecture discusses the type of words which are derived from the Masdar.
The second reason why change happens in the structure of a word is for the purpose of ease in pronunciation and articulation. 'Ilal, Ibdal and Qalb Makani are some types of changes which can take place in order to make a word easier to pronounce.
