Course content

4 sections25 lectures1h 39m total length
  • Dimensioning walls4:19

Throughout this video tutorial, you'll gain knowledge about how to use dimensions and annotations to enhance the readability and clarity of architectural documentation. The video covers setting dimension properties, including layers, text parameters, formatting, and more. You'll discover how to create custom dimension styles.

  • Dimensioning openings4:19

In this video, you'll learn efficient techniques for dimensioning openings like doors and windows in architectural drawings, as well as customizing their dimension settings to suit your needs.

  • Creating room tags and color schemes6:02

In this tutorial, we create room tags through various techniques: automatic room creation, room by walls, and room by polygon commands. You'll explore customizing room tag properties like text style, size, and font, using room separation lines for multifunctional spaces, and implementing color schemes to categorize room sizes. Plus, you'll see how to enable or disable color schemes for better room size visualization in your architectural designs.

  • Placing 2D symbols, texts4:22

In this video, you'll learn how to add various symbols and text to your floor plan. We cover placing elevation signs, including customization of symbols, and working within symbol groups. You'll discover how to incorporate additional 2D symbols, like arrows and North symbols, and modify their sizes as needed. We also demonstrate how to place and modify texts. Lastly, you'll explore the process of copying and placing callout text for architectural elements.

  • Dimensioning Elevations and Sections, Numbering5:38

This video tutorial will teach you the techniques for accurately dimensioning elevations and sections using the serial dimensioning commands. Furthermore, it explores the process of numbering to facilitate material categorization and layer identification.

  • Generating Schedules and Lists4:50

Let's delve into Schedules, which operate on a similar principle as tags. You'll learn about using Schedules to display data for doors and windows, allowing you to visualize their properties, quantities, and locations within your architectural plans. Additionally, we cover Quantity Take-Off and Excel List generation for various architectural elements.

  • Managing phases1:56

We will explore the process of managing project phases, allowing you to showcase existing, demolished, and new construction elements within your architectural project.

Requirements

  • No prior experience is needed. You will learn everything you need to know
  • Windows 10/11.
  • ARCHLine_XP 2023 or 2022 and the Workshop Projects install set, which you can download at the first lecture of the first session.

Description

ARCHLine.XP is a very powerful and intuitive CAD/BIM software for interior designers. From sketching to photorealistic images, it allows you to draw the exact floor plan and 3D view of the spaces.
In the upcoming hours, we will guide you through the process of transitioning from initial sketches in a BIM program to the creation of intricate models and comprehensive documentation.

In this course, our primary emphasis will be on enhancing the clarity and comprehensibility of your project documentation. We will delve into the world of dimensions and annotations to ensure your plans are both readable and easily understood.

You will also become well-acquainted with the procedure for generating plan sheets, where your finalized drawings will find their place. Furthermore, we'll guide you through the creation of a customized stamp and demonstrate the steps to seamlessly compile all your work into a single, neatly organized PDF file.

In the latter part of our course, we'll shift our attention to environmental representation. This involves the fascinating opportunity to import and study your fellow designers' ARCHLine.XP projects, gaining insights into schematic building block representation that can truly elevate your design proficiency.

While it's impossible to cover every aspect of ARCHLine.XP within this limited time frame, I'll ensure you receive a comprehensive introduction to its fundamental functionalities. By the end of this course, you'll have a solid grasp of the basics and a strong foundation to further explore the capabilities of the software.

No CAD experience is needed to operate these tools, so you spend less time on training, and more on actual design.
