This lecture describes the preparation necessary to undertake the course i.e. the version(s) of ArcGIS Pro to use, and where to find the Natural Earth data to download. It then gives an overview of each task that will be undertaken during the course.

Enabling Map Series and configuring Index Layer8:24
In this lecture we see how to make a very simple map series with one page for each country of the world. We first create a project, and insert a basemap to which is added a shapefile of the countries (from Natural Earth). We add that basemap as a map frame to a layout.
This is all we need to enable that layout as a simple Map Series, which we then export as a multi-page PDF with one page per country.
Adding Dynamic Overview Map, Title and Page Numbers10:07
In this lecture we will add an Overview Map which at first uses a rectangle to show where the country on each page is located on a map of the world. We'll then use the outline of the country instead of its rectangular extent. Other dynamic elements that we will add to each page are its title, its page number and a legend that only shows items which are present on that page.
Using Page Queries with Map Series7:50
In this lecture we will use a Page Query to show and label states and provinces for only the country that is the subject of each page in the map series. Then we will use a second Page Query to prevent labelling and coloring of that country.

You should have ArcGIS Pro 1.4 or later installed, and be able to start it - only a Basic level license is needed
You should have downloaded the Natural Earth data, which is described in a YouTube video on the PolyGeo channel

To create Map Books, ArcGIS Pro uses its Map Series functionality that has evolved from ArcMap's Data Driven Pages.

In this course of 5 videos, which is suitable for English-speaking students from anywhere in the world, you will:

Enable Map Series pages and configure them using an Index Layer.
Export Map Pages to multi-page PDF files.
Insert Dynamic Overview Maps, Index Maps, Titles, Legends and Page Numbers, which update appropriately for each page of your Map Book.
Use Page Definition Queries to include/exclude data from other layers, that relates to the feature that defines the current page.
Use the Grid Index Features tool to create a rectangular grid Index Layer.
