The API 982 Refractory Inspector certification candidate must have knowledge on the inspection and assessment of refractory linings, and of the following:

• Material properties and lining designs

• Defects, Damage and Degradation Mechanisms

• In-Service Inspection Methods

• Quality Control/Inspection and Test Plans

• Repair Methods

• Documentation and Reporting

Exam Info:

• The API 982 exam is 4.5 hours.

• There are 165 questions, of which only 150 are scored. The remaining 15 are pretest, which are not scored.

• All questions are multiple-choice and closed-book. Paper and reference materials are not allowed into exams.
