Animating In Procreate for the iPad

These are the animation principles that are taught in schools and form the foundation of everything we are going to do in this course going forward.

Now that we understand the principles of animation we are going to make our first basic animation and get our feet wet with Procreate’s animation assistant.

Changing the spacing or easing or our ball makes a big difference in our simple ball animation.

We take our ball animation and we add a little more to it. This time morph the shape as it goes along the timeline to give it more of a sense of weight.

Before something big moves in a cartoon or animation usually it telegraphs that motion, this is called anticipation.

Every layer in your Procreate file is a frame in your animation. But also every folder in your document is a frame which lets you move multiple objects in your animation at once.

In this section we walk through how to set up your cartoon character so it’s easier to animate when we get to the next steps.

Now that we have our character we’re going to set the foreground and backgrounds up in our file.

In this section we take everything we have learned up to this point and we put it together in one big animation.
