Align Culture & Values to Move Beyond Diversity & Inclusion
Requirements
- None
Description
While diversity and inclusion classes serve a very important function, they are often just seen as check-marks on a compliance list. They are frequently seen as a listing of what a person should and should not say or do while at work…but they don’t bring around any lasting personal change in the employees. Much of this behavior is due to a misalignment of values between the employee and the organization.
Learn to Build an Impactful Course that Positively Changes Culture
- Discover and align student and corporate values
- Find ways to internalize your course material
- Build a strong course proposal
- Measure course results effectively and realistically
Discover techniques to focus everyone on internalizing core values
This class focuses on helping you bring about internal change. It does this by helping you, as a learning professional or business owner, develop a course for your organization that looks at both the core values of your organization and those of the individual employee. Then it shows you how to get students to align those two sets of values so that they exist in harmony. It demonstrates methods to actually get students to internalize their lessons and have them become part of who they are, rather than a rote list of actions or behaviors they should perform.
Using material presented here, you will be enabled to make a powerful argument for implementing a cultural alignment class for your organization. You will also be introduced to some resources for uncovering the root causes for any cultural misalignment. Additionally, by highlighting some of the significant risks and potential outcomes of these misalignments revealed in this course, you will be able to add impact to any training proposal.
Being able to quantify the value of training is always difficult. However, this course, built on the foundations of a program that successfully internalized values and brought about positive change in the US Air Force will not only show you how to build an effective class, but also how to measure its impact and success.

Instructor
I have been training and managing training functions for over 25 years-- in the Air Force, as a military contractor, and within the corporate sector. I love talent development and helping others reach their potential. Likewise, I have a personal love of learning! My wife calls it my “addiction.”
In my first job after retiring from the military, I was tasked to develop a course to help change a misalignment in Air Force culture, following in the wake of a horrific sexual assault scandal. The resulting course was successful in helping improve that culture. I know how hard…and important that job can be, and I hope I can help you with the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
As for credentials, I’ve earned a Master of Science in Training and Development, as well as graduate certificates in Strategic Human Resources Leadership and Organizational Improvement. I’m a Certified Professional in Training Management, I hold a Bronze Certification in Kirkpatrick Method of Training Evaluation, and I am a Certified John Maxwell Team Trainer, Speaker, and Coach.
In my spare time (I’m not actually sure what that is!), I like to spend time with my family, read, take classes (of course), and I hit the mat with DDP Yoga almost every day.
