This video covers all the materials you will need for the class. I try and use materials that are fairly easy to get, so you can jump right in and start enjoying the class. There is also a downloadable PDF of materials needed. Alcohol Inks are a Dye and were meant for Crafts not fine art; they are NOT lightfast, therefore UV Rays and Direct sunlight may fade colors.
One of my first online courses!
We will now begin by painting the background for our alcohol ink painting on the tile.
Great, now we will take our second step of our alcohol ink painting, while it is still wet. Remember you can always watch the video first and then go through and follow me the second time if it helps.
Learn about a few different display options for your Alcohol Ink Tiles.
I have found a new resource for some Aftosa products since they have gone out of business.
They were purchased by a company called Clay Planet. I spoke with a rep from the company based in California US, they plan to continue to offer some of the products that Aftosa sold. (Next Lecture)
Want to know what I use to display my work? I will tell you exactly where and how I display my alcohol ink works of art. This may give you more ideas or you can display your work similarly.
Another supplier that I've found that has some really fun porcelain ornaments is Maryland China. I'll link both of these in the resource link for you.
Now we will begin working on a scene using Yupo paper. Let's tape down our paper and get started.
I've just added this quick practice session for you to try a wet in wet pour and to see the difference when you do not use blending solution.
Let's begin the background.
Now it is time for the second layer of your painting.
The colors are really looking nice at this point. Let's add some more detail to your painting.
I wanted to add this little extra video as a bonus. Because you have to work so fast (wet in wet) on this piece, this watercolor demo may help see just how the trees are completed.
Now we can do the final touches on your alcohol painting. Remember art is always unique and your work will look different even if you copied me exactly. That is one of the beautiful things about art; no two pieces are ever the same.
Caring for our work of art is important and I will go over how to seal your new artwork.
Myself and other students would love to see your project. Now I know it's sometimes hard to put yourself out there, but remember we are here to learn and grow. If you are shy you can email me directly at kellie@kellielynnart.com or tag and post on social media @kelliechasse_fineart, or post in our private group for student only on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/kcfacourse/ Can't wait to see them! (links are under blue resource tab on top left).
In this video I will demonstrate how I give my art a professional looking frame! Now I am not a professional when it comes to framing but I have watched a few do it many times.
I'll be using a watercolor painting in this demo, but for a Yupo painting just make sure your painting is not touching the glass (a mat will normally take care of this). From my experience hanging my personal work not in direct sunlight, and using UV glass, I have been able to skip the sealing process.
I am not a professional framer, but I've learned how to do it my own way and it is very much a money saver for me.
****UPDATE: Please note that I have to put the wire up higher so that it will not puncture the dust cover and a special thank you to student Lisa that was a framer that let me know. :)
Thank you for taking this course, it would mean the WORLD to me if you would consider leaving a 5 star review.
