What you'll learn

  • Define a user problem, a measurable outcome and a baseline before choosing any AI solution
  • Compare a process fix, a written rule and a narrow AI trial, and choose the smallest change that can work
  • Question whether your records are complete, permitted and available at the moment the decision is made
  • Read model errors, recall and precision against real consequences, not one impressive accuracy score
  • Set pilot conditions: human review, a named fallback owner, stop rules and a way to find missed work
  • Explain the CPMAI phases and recognise when new evidence sends a project back to an earlier question

Description

An AI demo can look impressive long before anyone has agreed what problem it should solve. This free, independent introduction to AI project management follows one team, from the first sign of a problem to a small, carefully controlled AI pilot, and shows you the decisions that matter on the way. It is a practical foundation for anyone considering PMI-CPMAI™ study.

Our story begins with Emma, a customer whose request keeps moving between teams while she waits. The number on the office wall improves, but her wait does not. That gap is where good AI project management begins: agree the outcome that matters before you judge any solution.

What you will practise, one decision at a time

  • Episode 1, The Request That Kept Moving: define the user problem, choose a meaningful outcome and record a baseline.

  • Episode 2, Read the Request Before You Choose: compare a process fix, a written rule and a narrow AI trial, and keep the scope small.

  • Episode 3, The Records We Actually Have: question where the data came from, who is missing, what you may use and what is only written down later.

  • Episode 4, The Impressive Score: look behind a 95% accuracy figure, read recall and precision, and weigh errors by their consequences.

  • Episode 5, The Pilot Decision: set the conditions for a two-week pilot: human review, a named fallback owner, stop rules and a way to find missed work.

  • Bonus, The Second Service Desk: see why the same model needs its own evidence somewhere new.

At each decision point you make your own choice before you hear ours. Each episode maps to the CPMAI lifecycle: Business Understanding, Data Understanding and Preparation, Model Development and Evaluation, and Model Operationalization. The downloadable Starter Pack gives you a worked example and a blank copy, so you can apply the same questions to a project of your own.

How it is taught

Instead of slides, you follow an animated, handmade-felt story with the same small cast throughout: Maya the service lead, Sam the analyst, Ruth the desk manager, Devin the sponsor and Priya from Billing. The case data is fictional, but the model results come from a real experiment we ran on it. English captions are included on every lecture.
