Meet Hugo and Melissa, the primary instructors, whose Stanford-educated AI expertise and real-world business focus drive this joint venture between SSAA and UK AI experts.
Set expectations for a practical AI foundations course applicable to all sectors, informed by organizational feedback and the EU AI Act, designed for the public with no technical background.
Finish the course by watching videos, completing quizzes, and taking notes, with questions welcomed. Take the optional free exam to earn certification by scoring at least 50%, with free retakes.
Explore the science of prompts and how clear instructions, context, task, constraints, and output format drive precise, reliable ai results, illustrated by Nigel's shop scenarios.
Explore how to write effective prompts for AI by identifying vagueness, adding context, and specifying desired output, illustrated through Robin's marketing prompt for entering the Japanese market.
Learn to craft radical, context-rich prompts that specify scope, structure, and actionable marketing insights for Japan video game trends, genres, differences between Western and Japanese preferences, earning models, and competitors.
Grab a coffee and take a short break after hard work, then use the space below the video to send your course questions and receive a quick response.
Explore six AI types—from large language models, AI chat agents, and image and video AI to speech and audio AI, robotics and control systems, and recommendation engines—and their real-world applications.
Explore how automation, augmentation, and transformation differ in workplace AI, and learn to apply each level strategically to advance your AI career.
Humans remain essential in AI systems, providing judgment and ethical oversight where AI struggles. By refining data, labeling outputs, and offering feedback, humans guide AI toward safety, fairness, and alignment.
Clarify the differences between machine learning and deep learning. Explain which approach goes deeper in learning, and note that deep learning goes deeper.
Distinguish machine learning from deep learning while showing how ordinary least squares regression uses a tiny data set to derive a linear estimate of price from surface area.
Compare traditional programming with machine learning, emphasizing data-driven outputs, models that learn relationships from data, and deep learning as a data-hungry subset with many variables.
Explore the principle of deep learning with neural networks that adjust weights across many layers to predict the price of a house from features like age, size, and crime rate.
Explore how ergot-contaminated bread triggered widespread human hallucinations in a 1951 southern France town and compare it to artificial intelligence hallucinations, plus strategies to address them.
Learn to counter AI hallucinations by verifying AI outputs, refining prompts, and keeping a human in the loop, while building AI literacy and using domain-specific tools.
Grounding AI bases its answers on provided documents to reduce hallucinations, but cannot eliminate them; keep humans in the loop to verify outputs and prevent composition errors.
Generative AI scales creativity and augments expertise, democratizing creation, while requiring verification, guarding against bias, and addressing security, governance, and cultural impact.
Explore digital watermarking as a way to spot AI-generated content, compare traditional watermarking with crypto digital watermarking, and understand how such watermarks enable traceability on platforms like LinkedIn.
Explore how digital watermarking hides information in images by embedding patterns in RGB color codes, using parity bits and subtle color tweaks imperceptible to the human eye.
Explore what large language models are and how they power generative AI, including their strengths, limitations, and the trade-offs between different models to decide what fits your environment.
ChatGPT is a versatile general‑purpose ai assistant for text, images, and reasoning. It enables fast content creation, summarization, coding, and automation, with multi‑modal inputs and an ecosystem, yet may hallucinate.
Explore metas llama as a self-hosted private ai solution for offline use, free to download, enabling private data, fine-tuning on your hardware, and no api costs.
Explore Grok, X's AI assistant with real-time news access and a witty, rebellious tone, ideal for summarizing breaking reactions and tracking sentiment while noting its limitations for academic tasks.
Explore Claude, Anthropic's high-context, safety-focused model for coding, legal analysis, and long-form writing, with 200k tokens for long context and no images or audio.
Explore Gemini's multimodal approach, combining image, video, and text inputs to diagnose a washing machine issue on a tight budget, illustrated by John's experience.
DeepSeq, a challenger tool from China, offers low-cost math and code optimization with strong logic, transparent step-by-step reasoning, and local or cheap API deployment, despite privacy and censorship trade-offs.
Assess six LLMs—ChatGPT for creativity, Gemini for integration, Claude for long writing, DeepSeek for maths, Grok for news, Llama for privacy—and pick a fit by task, cost, and security.
Learn what GPT stands for and how custom GPTs convert a large language model (LLM) into a business-specific assistant by feeding it documents, tone, and rules.
Discover how to train a custom GPT for an online shoe store by avoiding vague prompts and setting clear roles, rules, data, scope, pricing, delivery, returns, tone, and testing.
Mizuki shifts from graduate life to entrepreneurship, inspired by Kei's story, and with her uncle Shiro's help uses AI and custom GPTs to run a vegan restaurant in Seoul.
Create a custom llm or custom gpt using ChatGPT, name it Shiro the Assistant, and paste your instructions. Test it, adjust image generation, and deploy via website or QR code.
Certified AI Foundations Professional (Accredited)
In the early 1990's almost nobody knew how to send an email, or to navigate to a webpage. A few years later, most jobs required you to have those skills. The same thing is happening with AI. In a few years, you must master a few foundational AI skills to be able to remain competitive in the economy. This course is designed to help you in this AI revolution by training and certifying you as a professional who masters the foundational AI skills needed in today's labor market. We have designed this course so it is accessible to all regardless of sector and job level. It does not matter if you are a cook, nurse, manager, auditor or engineer. You do not need IT skills to keep up. We have also designed this course so it matches the AI needs of the actual labor market. What you learn today, you can use today to stand out, to increase your opportunities and to work more efficiently! So what kind of topics will we deal with? Here are a few:
Generative AI strengths and weaknesses
Tokens and tokenization
Get the most from large language models by optimizing LLM context window use
Offline VS online LLM
