What you'll learn

  • Create a shine effect in After Effects using e native effects, with no plugins required.
  • Apply the shine effect setup on three different layer types: shape layers, precomps with UI design, and text layers.
  • Build a 3D scene in After Effects with a point light, real cast shadows, and a shadows-only floor that reacts to light movement.
  • Animate a 3D camera path using the vertex tool, adjust motion with the speed graph editor, and control pauses with keyframe velocity.
  • Add color correction to any scene using the Noise HLS, Curves, and Hue/Saturation effects.
  • Create a light transition between scenes using a white solid, an adjustment layer with Fast Box Blur, and the Add blending mode.

Course content

  • Setting Up the Shiny Screen12:19

Every great shine starts with a solid setup. Don't forget to download the main course folder before we begin. In this lesson we build the base of the effect the right way, so it stays flexible, easy to control, and ready to shine in every scene ahead.

  • Animating the Shiny Screen12:42

This is where the light comes alive. We animate the scene in 3D, add subtle flicker, and finish with a color filter that turns a simple setup into something that feels cinematic.

  • Setting Up the Shiny UI Screen12:19

A shine is only as premium as the design behind it. In this lesson we bring in a real UI design, prepare the setup properly, and make sure everything is ready for a full 3D scene.

  • Animating the Shiny UI Screen26:55

This is where the scene starts to feel like a real SaaS explainer. We animate the UI, build a smooth 3D camera path, time everything together, and add the depth that makes it feel expensive.

  • Setting Up the Shiny Text Scene14:44

Text can carry a whole scene when it's set up right. In this lesson we build a shiny title with an elegant highlight, then start creating the 3D world it's going to light up.

  • Animating the Shiny Text Scene24:54

This is where everything comes together. Real shadows react to real lights, the text feels like it's lighting the room, and the whole scene turns into something cinematic and alive.

  • Bonus: The Light Transition6:54

The final touch that ties it all together. We organize the project, then build a premium light transition with one small trick that most people miss, the one that makes it feel expensive.

Requirements

  • Adobe After Effects installed on your computer
  • Basic knowledge of After Effects fundamentals: keyframes, precomps, track mattes, shape layers, and the basic tools.
  • No plugins required. Everything in this course is built with native After Effects tools.

Description

Learn to build the effects that make projects look expensive, natively in After Effects, no plugins required, and beyond what any AI tool can replicate.

This class is part of the Premium Effects Collection. A series of focused After Effects classes that teach you the effects you see everywhere in high-end motion design and SaaS explainer videos, and finally show you how to build them yourself. You're about to watch the second class in the series, and more classes are coming very soon.

In this class you will build the perfect shine effect from scratch, in three different scenarios. On a simple shape layer to create a beautiful light projection scene, on a precomp with UI design inside to make the interface look premium, and on a text layer to create a cinematic 3D scene with real lights and shadows. This is not like the tutorials you find on YouTube. You will not only learn how to make each scene look great, but also what is behind every step, what issues you might run into and how to fix them, and the correct workflow to avoid the most common mistakes.

By the end of the class you will have everything you need to create these animations and make them your own. And the best part is that you will do all of this without any plugins, entirely native in After Effects.

It's an intermediate level course. To follow along you will need to know the After Effects fundamentals such as keyframes, precomps, track mattes, and the basic tools.

Who this course is for:

  • Intermediate After Effects users who already know the basics like keyframes, precomps, and track mattes, and want to level up to premium, cinematic effects.
  • Motion designers and freelancers working on SaaS explainer videos, UI presentations, and product reveals, who want to make their projects stand out visually.
  • Content creators tired of the minimal, popping-up animation trend and want to create scenes that feel cinematic, rich, and worth watching.
  • This course is not for complete beginners. You should already be comfortable with the After Effects interface and know how to work with keyframes, layers, and basic effects before starting.
