I give you a brief overview on what to expect in this course, what prerequisite knowledge you require to complete this course as best as possible, and what I define survival to be.
You're given the most important facet of your Survival Journey in this lecture; the Survival Algorithm.
As you get 'deeper' into this course, you'll understand how sheltering fits into the Survival Algorithm, and more importantly, how to actually implement sheltering as part of the Survival Algorithm.
Nothing can be more detrimental to your survival than employing anything but common sense during your survival 'ordeal.' By applying a high degree of common sense to your survival ordeal, what one would deem an ordeal could be turned into a robustly effective survival experience, perhaps, a highly memorable occasion in terms of being pleasant!
By exhibiting common sense in your survival journey, you should also be fond of 'common sense travelling;' that is, how much gear you have on your person. The motto in terms of how much gear you should have within a survival situation is simple, "the lesser, the better," or, "as least as practicably possible."
The most important part of your survival journey is the first few seconds after you arrive to the realization you are in a survival situation - a matter of life and death - from which you must make deliberate and swift decisions for concrete and immediate action.
Unlike Wilderness Survival, where the idea is to exploit local water and food resources by staying put until you're rescued, after establishing shelter and setting signals - unless you decide to rescue yourself by making the journey back to civilisation - in Urban Survival, civilisation is where the survival situation is occurring!
Because resources within an Urban Survival situation don't grow on trees, come from animals, or come from a natural water supply, but rather, derive from sources that are always away from your shelter - whether 100s of metres or several kilometres - you must learn from the get go that travelling and shelter are two faces of the same coin.
Once you wrap your mind around the concept - that travelling and sheltering are inextricably linked within Urban Survival - you'll find that the Urban Survival environment offers a convincingly far superior range of resources and survival options than a Wilderness Survival environment.
- Nature provides you materials - endlessly - but you must process everything, and that takes a lot of time and energy...
- Suburbia doesn't demand that you process anything; in survival mode, suburbia has an endless range of things already made with no need for you to waste precious time and energy to manufacture such.
It is imperative that during your Urban Survival Journey you remain light, and your movements remain versatile. A pack that weighs you down will only make your survival that much more difficult, and waste valuable energy.
You will find most of the luxuries, foods, and items outside of your pack during foraging and scavenging missions, meaning you can simply carry them back to your 'base' in plastic bags.
Your most potent technological weapon in an Urban Survival Catastrophe or Situation is the Smart Phone; taken well care of, and having a spare Smart Phone or two, it will get you out of many tough situations comfortably - afterall, that is what Smart Phones were designed to do.
Planning routes carefully will mean the difference between injury and health, living and dying. Don't ever think a journey is too simple, within an Urban Survival Context, for you not to plan it efficiently.
Navigating any Urban Survival Situation with ease, robustness, and expressness is far safer and expedient than taking to the streets with a smart phone infront of your face when you should be paying attention to your surroundings.
Swimming across channels of water in an Urban Survival Situation is rare, and definitely the less preferable option, but there are instances where such may be prudent.
- In this course, you're given the tools for and learn how to survive in any Urban Environment using the concept of Sheltering; from the simplest catastrophic scenarios to the most difficult and challenging catastrophic scenarios.
- You'll be given a lot of new and advanced concepts you've probably never heard of before within this course, so it is advisable you watch over some videos once, twice, or several times before moving on if they're not clear cut, as this course is part of a Survival System.
- This course is not military spec. It is, however, survival spec, and as of today (current), significantly enhances your prospect of surviving even the most horrendous survival situations. No survival can be guaranteed, even for the best, but as said, this course provides you with the latest and greatest knowledge of Urban Survival within the industry.
- This course is designed as a Survival System, and is intended to be undertaken in the order it has been composed in. Of course, no Survival Situation presents itself as a system, but rather, a unique event or set of events that requires you to conform and adapt your skills and knowledge accordingly. Again, it is just this course given to you as a Survival System for the purpose of learning effectively, but survival will only ever require that you use that system to incorporate its unique approaches and methodologies to any situation you may face, which situation will always require a special approach.
