It's time to practice completing Tasks in Illustrator. This segment is very similar how the second part of the exam will work. You will be asked to complete specific tasks in each project.
We recommend trying to complete each of these Projects first before watching the corresponding video solutions or checking the finished version of the project files. This way you can check your knowledge and find out if you need to brush up on any specific topic.
It's important to clarify that all the projects in this course are designed to be more complex than the tasks you will have to solve in the real exam. We decided to group multiple tasks into each project, which will resemble real design project scenarios. On the other hand – during the exam – each task will have its independant example (document). Completing a single project from this course equals completeing several tasks from the exam, and since there are 20 tasks in total in the exam, completing 2-3 projects from this course will be similar to completing the entire tasks segment of the exam.
You can download all the project files below (Project 11 required to be in a separete Illustrator document due to tasks included are testing global document knowledge). The project files are Illustrator templates to make sure you don't accidentally overwrite them, which will allow you to restart them if you need more practice.
Prepare for the Adobe certified professional exam by practicing tasks with projects and the document, using prepared layers, and referring to study guides and prior video lessons.
Create a heart illustration from a hand guide, color it in CMYK, resize to 385 px, unlock and reflect for symmetry, and save as health symbol.
Subtract blue from red with Pathfinder minus front or shape builder to form pin, convert bottom anchor to a corner, move it down 250 px, then swap stroke and fill.
Create a sun illustration in Illustrator by centering guides, rotating and duplicating flame shapes around a circle, and turning the result into a Sunny Side pattern brush with 50% spacing.
Create a starfish with star tool, set R1 and R2 radii, rotate 180 degrees, move gradient center to top, apply radial orange-yellow gradient, and save as a starfish symbol.
Create a circle with the ellipse tool, place Galactic Enterprise in 50 pt Impact with tracking 75 and baseline shift 10, and match the fill to the background.
Create cosmos text with the type tool, set Ariel Black 150 all caps, center at 975 by 475, apply space style, offset path to -5, and rotate five degrees.
Learn to convert text to outlines, adjust anchor points, apply and align strokes, and use Pathfinder and eraser tools to build the astro logo in Illustrator.
Save the illustration as a swatch group named cameras. Create a brick-by-row pattern with tiles 150 by 125, resize to 100 pixels, and apply as a fill.
Trace a raster illustration to vector using image trace with color mode and document library palette. Create and apply a swatch group named vegetables, then expand the artwork.
Create a clipping mask in Illustrator by aligning a shape with an illustration, then apply a drop shadow and refine the mask placement using outline view and arrow keys.
Learn document setup in Illustrator: cmyk, 300 ppi, millimeters, bleed; arrange and rename artboards, merge layers, create non-printing titles layer, apply multiply, export svg and 2x png assets.
Practice using exercise files and test exams to prepare for a 50-minute Illustrator exam, ten questions and 20 tasks, then book the exam and celebrate your Adobe Certified Professional achievement.
