Class 2 Fluid Arms Technique for Belly Dance
Go beyond the retro "Oriental arms" to fluid and evocative arm movement. Neon shares her technique of adding powerful expressivity to every arm path and gesture + practice with music. Level - Open
"I ask you to do 2 things on any arm movement:
1. Perform any arm movement with the articulation of snake arms - I know it sounds bizzarre, but I will explain.
2. Support each arm movement with your upper body or spinal trajectories, such as arching your spine or rotations, especially the coordination we usually describe as the chest figure 8.
And I will ask you to do one more thing as an optional element, to evade the trap of classical arms: instead of going from point A to point B through classical arm paths, lying farther from the body, - always bring your hands to your chest before extending them in any direction."
Classes 3-4 Belly Dance Hipwork Remix
A lot of modern Oriental dance is based on this deconstruction of classic moves. Our goal in this class is to become more daring in mixing familiar steps. We'll shake our bag of moves and combine them in less common ways. We'll deconstruct a few classic bellydance hipwork and footwork patterns to come up with fresh fun moves.
