ACT Practice Tests 2026: Enhanced ACT Format, 355 Questions

The ACT you're studying for may not be the ACT you're going to take. The Enhanced ACT went live nationally in September 2025. The core test dropped from 215 questions to 131 across three required sections. Science became optional and no longer counts toward your Composite - it feeds a separate STEM score instead. And Math answer choices went from five down to four, which quietly changes the math of guessing. If your prep book was printed before 2025, it's drilling you on a test that no longer exists. This course is built for the current format - including the optional Science section, for the many students whose state or target program still wants it.

The Reading section is four original passages at genuine ACT length — 650 to 800 words each, one Literary Narrative and three Informational — with nine questions apiece. Most prep material uses short excerpts, which never trains the thing ACT Reading actually tests: holding a long, dense argument in your head while the clock runs.

You'll also get a full-length Enhanced ACT mock exam — 131 questions across English (50), Math (45), and Reading (36), proportioned and timed exactly like the real core test. Work the individual sets first to build accuracy, then sit the mock to rehearse pacing.

One thing worth knowing before you register: Science is now optional, and if you take it, it does not count toward your 1-36 Composite. Your Composite comes from English, Math, and Reading only. Science is reported as its own section score and combines with Math to produce a STEM score. That doesn't mean skip it. Plenty of programs and scholarships still want a Science score, and some states require it for school-day testing. But it does change how you budget your prep time - if your target schools don't ask for Science, those hours belong in English, Math, and Reading. Check your target programs before you decide, then use the Science set here accordingly.

Why this course is different: every question in it has been independently verified — worked through one at a time, not spot-checked. That audit found and fixed real problems: answer keys that were wrong, questions where two options were both defensible, and Science questions referencing data that had gone missing from the passage. Most practice banks have never had that done to them, which is why you have probably hit a question somewhere that marked you wrong when you were right. We also track the test itself.
