Welcome to my course! Let's get ready into the simple art of goal setting. My name is Pas! and I want to show you the cool art of setting goals and achieving it. Hope you enjoy the course, let me know what your goal is and let's structure a plan for you to achieve it!
In this video we are going to discuss setting a REAL & GENUINE goal. I never understood this process. I have always felt just having ANY goal was better than no goal at all. But to stay motivated and keep to achieving your goal you must set a genuine goal. Make it a goal that is yours and something that you want.
So when you set your goal, make sure its real.
In this video I am going through how to quantify your goal. The reason you need to quantify as much as you can is to be able to measure it on later down the track.
Here we go through how you can be creative with quantifying your goals, whether it be earning money, learning a language or getting a 6-pack. All goals can be distilled to a point to maximize your goal setting.
DO NOT skip this section.
This is by far the one section people hate. Why? Because it's boring to plan out your goal.
Ever heard the saying, if you shoot from the stars you will land on a cloud? That is only part of it. If you DO NOT have a map to the stars then you WILL NOT get off the ground. You need to plan your goal. You need to sit down and take the time to figure out (at least roughly) how you will get there.
You do not need a concrete plan, but you need at least a map to guide you. Blindly hoping you will achieve your goal will only lead to disappointment - trust me, I've been there multiple times.
It's time to break down the 168 hours. How much time do you really have? I have always wondered how many hours in the week I really have.
I suggest you always round UP. Watch this video and let me show you how a general 168 hour test goes. Where ARE THOSE hours going?
This is one of my favourite topics. You must understand why it's important about DEADLINES. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY - deadlines must have a CONSEQUENCE. They are incomplete otherwise. Let me show you some examples and how they will help you achieve your goals.
It's time to realize that your environment is YOUR decision. Distractions are your decision. You must decide where you plan to work on your goals.
It's time to set up a calendar.
I personally use Google Calendars & Trello (Links provided).
With that said, I think you can use any form of Calendar and To-Do list app out there. Do what you are most comfortable with. Microsoft To Do is also a great choice as well. For full instructions:
Set up a few calendars that represent certain consistent events in your life (work, school).
Set up another calendar representing your GOAL time.
Set up finally a calendar representing your breaks (Being disciplined even in your breaks is great practice for you!)
At the end of each week, plan your coming week. At first this may feel like a chore but it is great practice for you. You will get to see what times you can work and no week is always the same!
You can do this via a To-Do list app too, I use both (one for day, one for week).
Now is my favourite part! The Daily goal setting.
Every day you should be roughly setting up your goals and To-Do List.
I highly recommend spending a few minutes a day planning out how you will conquer the next day.
1. At the end of a day, plan roughly your next day. Create the To Do list that represents the calendar you have made.
2. Go through your day checking things off!
3. At the end of the day, reflect on what you have done and what you have not done.
Daily goal setting is pushing yourself towards achieving what you set yourself out to do.
Imagine digging a tunnel. At first you dig and you can see your progress. But as you keep digging eventually you won't be able to see how far you have gone and how far you have left.
Track your progress over time so you can see where you are going.
Track so you can see how far you have got to left to go.
Always celebrate the steps and wins. Any step forward is a win in my book!
You must remember that your goals are NON NEGOTIABLE.
What that means is anything that would take the time you dedicate to your goal should not be negotiable. When someone calls you up because they want you to go out or because there's an amazing party - you need to remember you have a deadline and you have set this time as part of your plan.
Yes, there will be times for emergencies and occasionally I have found myself breaking from my goal time.
But at most, life will be full of choices - pick the one that matters to you most. Your goal should be high up there.
Time is a very valuable and finite resource. I have always wondered if I should talk about it, but all I will say here is that you never know when time will change for you. What happens later will be unknown. I believe that it is best to use your time now to achieve what YOU WANT as you may not have forever.
Sometimes you will need to scale back your goals. That's perfectly fine! Scale it back so you can achieve it. Keep it challenging but there is nothing wrong with scaling your goal back.
If you don't have time - scale back the goal, or make the time.
Work Life Balance has become a very common term. But that is dependant on your goals. If you have ambitious projects in mind, or something that will be very difficult - you need to push yourself.
You must swing the balance to work and pursuing your goals. If not, admit it and dial back your goals.
Failure is OK. It's part of the process. Don't ever be discouraged if you do fail. I have failed countlessly on my goals. But inside each failure is a positive experience that you can take. Learn from your mistakes and keep going. The only thing you could do wrong is not continually move and work on your goals.
Well as we close off this course I hope you achieve those goals! Reach out to me via mail, here, or Instagram. I hope this course sets you on the right path. I look forward to hearing about your journey and the goals you achieve. Good luck, keep smiling, and achieve your goals!
