In this lesson we look at Tablature. you will learn what tablature is, how to read it and how to use it.

What is Tablature
05:12

The growth of tablature for guitarist is getting bigger and bigger every year which is a great sign for guitar manufacturers.

There are website appearing daily advertising tabs, chord charts, midi files etc. So i though i would discuss great locations to find quality tabs and songs charts.

#1 Ultimate Guitar

Ultimate Guitar has been around for years . The website looks dated in appearance but don't let that fool you..

They do have a paid service that they will obviously push you towards when you first visit the site but you only need to register you don't need to sign up as a paid member. You can actually register using Facebook or Google. Once registered "The World is your Oyster" there are literally thousands upon thousands of songs for you to learn here.

#2 E-Chords.

This site focuses mainly on chord and song sheets. Large database with a nice user friendly search engine. Has a nice way of showing you the chords to play in the song.

#3 Songsterr

A newer tab provider, just recently they upgraded the site, not sure if i actually like the new format. The database is quite large focuses on the really popular songs.

There are a number of other sites out there providing tabs but they are normally clones of these 3 sites and use the same tabs as provided for the above to enhance there website without any kudos to the original writer.

When using these site please remember good etiquette. It takes time to work out songs especially if its a GP file so if you do use any material on the sites please take the time to click on the approval stars. Please don't vent your frustration on others in the comments sections. Praise when you find an article of work useful.
