I love Art Journaling. And hopefully, at the end of this course you will too! Join me in this short intro to find more about me.
You don't need much to start an art journal. You will have most of the products already at home. Here you get some ideas of the must-haves and the nice-to-have products required to start this wonderful hobby.
Art Journals can be expensive. By creating your own journal, you can customize it to your needs and save money! I will show you how to put together your own home made art journal.
So let's get started! We will start with a simple background. All you need is some paint and your imagination!
Backgrounds are so much fun. This one is based on stenciling and spraying. Look our for some cheap stencils to start with and have fun: this requires no specific drawing or painting skills.
If you are looking for an easy, cheap and fun way to create backgrounds, use collages! You will find a lot of colors and forms in newspapers and advertising mail.
Background are a great starting point, but they sometime feel "empty". Our eyes like to focus on a message or on an image. Here we create a focus with a brush and paint. If you feel uncomfortable drawing a face, go to Lecture 16. There I give you some hints on how to approach the facial features.
You don't like or don't want to draw? No problem. Just pick a magazine a choose a picture you like. Animals, faces, kitchen items, whatever you choose can be used as a focal point of your art journaling page.
You own beautiful stamps featuring flowers, butterflies, trees, etc.? Then using a stamped image as your focal point might be a good option for you to try out.
With our Art Journaling page we often want to express a feeling or an idea. We can simply write the message down or we can use other means to vocalize ourselves! Here you will discover very different ways to bring text onto your page.
Your page already looks amazing, but you might feel that something is missing. So let's takle this and use our acrylic paints again and add some finishing touches.
One of the favorite tools of Art Journalers are their pens and markers. They are great to doodle on your page, to create borders or to highlight so parts on your page. Here you will see some ways to use your pens and markers.
In Art Journaling anything goes. So why don't we use tools to create supplementary structure to our page. Here we are using a puncher, but you can use whatever works for you!
Once you understand how a face is structured it is easy to draw one. Here you will given some guidance on how to best approach the drawing of a face.
