Welcome! By the end of this course, you’ll have successfully created your first Lottie animation and gotten a good handle of animation techniques and principles. See you on the other side :)
Let’s make sure you have the basic tools needed to start. You’ll need Adobe After Effects and LottieFiles Plugin that can render your Lottie animations.
In this chapter, you’ll learn how to put 4 key animation principles to best use: easing, anticipation, secondary action, follow through and overlap.
This chapter will give you a complete overview of the LottieFiles platform and what it has to offer. LottieFiles will help you test your animations for both web and app environments without you needing to write a single line of code.
Congratulations, you’ve completed the course! You should now be equipped with the fundamentals needed to create your very own Lottie animation. Why not give it a try and then share your animation creation with the rest of the LottieFiles community? Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Are you a motion or UI/UX designer? And are you new to motion- and interactive design? Then, this Beginner’s Guide to Lottie is the right start for you.
Why should you learn about Lottie?
Lottie is an open-source text and vector-based file format which will make designing and deploying animations so much easier. If you take the time to understand and work with Lottie, it will be easier to ship/share animations, you will experience higher cross-platform compatibility, your file sizes will shrink dramatically, and you will find it much easier to collaborate during the creating process. Almost all of the top 200 apps on the App Store already use Lottie to engage users and enhance conversions.
What will you learn in this course?
In this course, Salih Abdul-Karim, the Design Lead at Airbnb, will share his knowledge and tips and tricks on creating Lottie animations and the essential tools you need to get started. In addition, you will have a complete overview of the LottieFiles platform and its opportunities.

Finally, we will dig into the details of creating micro-interactions like hearts, switches, or buttons and understanding how to create interactive walkthroughs, work with images, expressions, and dynamic properties. You will also learn how to use your favorite vector assets in Adobe After Effects CC.
