Description
This course will give you the tools and knowledge to begin to get on top of your back issue - strengthen you in the correct areas to support your whole spine allowing you to get back to the simple things - improve your posture and flexibility helping to reduce the risk of further issues or injury, relieve stress and tension while increasing your day to day energy levels, develop your physical awareness and mind body connection allowing you a greater understanding of how your body works and moves - this course will provide you with longevity, strength and mobility to ultimately help you to be pain free and get you back to the things you thought may no longer be possible, no matter what level your current ability is, this course is for anyone who has a back issue.
The course begins slowly breaking each individual exercise down into bitesize blocks that are easy to understand and implement. Each individual exercise is clearly demonstrated so you can fully understand what the common mistakes are and how to apply the correct techniques onto your body. As you progress these blocks are gradually brought together in twos and threes slowly building up to a series of exercises that culminate into one continuous flow of movement. The exercises gradually increase in difficulty at a pace that will work for you and your particular physical issues, and at a pace that you can control if you need to progress slower. The course has been designed methodically to advance from week one to week eight with each week beginning where the previous one has left off. By the end of the course you will have a comprehensive physical knowledge and understanding of the work and the basic principles involved. This will give you the foundation to begin to not only alleviate you back issue but also the springboard to move onto more challenging work enabling you to get back to all the physical activities you thought were no longer achievable.

Instructors
Sam’s career started as a professional dancer touring both nationally and internationally performing contemporary repertoire, with renowned dance companies such as Richards Alston Dance Company and Rambert Dance Company. She also taught extensively at many major dance colleges/institutions. She completed her initial Massage qualifications in 1996 with The Massage Training Institute. Since retiring from Rambert Dance Company she has obtained her Personal Training qualifications, Sports Massage Diploma with Premier International and Level 5 Diploma in Sports and Remedial Massage with the North London School of Sports Massage. Further training includes - Well Mother – Suzanne Yates, Diploma in Massage for Pregnancy and Integrated Myofascial Therapy under Ruth Duncan. Her career as a therapist has led her to work in many clinics alongside chiropractors, various marathon events and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, amassing a comprehensive anatomical understanding of how the body works and moves.
Sam felt she needed to add to her skill set by revisiting Pilates which was part of her training as a dancer. So she went on to become a Certified STOTT® Pilates Instructor.
She has held her own practice since 2008 and is very excited to share her knowledge helping people take control of their bodies and ultimately create ease of movement for a healthier and fitter lifestyle. She is Registered with the Sports Massage Association (SMA) and The Complimentary & Natural Health Care Council (CNHC).
Glenn Wilkinson
Born in Leeds Glenn trained in ballet and contemporary dance at The Rambert School and joined the prestigious Rambert Dance Company in 1987 performing nationally and internationally for seventeen years. While there he trained with Master Pilates instructor Dreas Renyeke at his studio in Notting Hill London, who also danced with Rambert formally know as Ballet Rambert. Dreas was one of two pioneers bringing Pilates to London in the 1970’s long before the Pilates revolution we know today.
Glenn has over thirty years of teaching experience working with students and professionals globally, he is also a guest assessor for many of the UK’s leading dance schools and colleges. He mentored the winner of BBC Young Dancer 2015 Connor Scott and spent many years training the students of the Royal Ballet’s Upper and Lower Schools.
Glenn has also worked as a choreographer creating works for Rambert Dance Company, The Olympic Torch Relay, Resident and Associate Choreographer for Dirty Dancing London, UK Tour, South Africa, Germany and Asia, Resident and associate Choreographer for Billy Elliot London and the UK and Ireland Tour, Choreographer for Sinatra the Man and his Music London.
Alongside his many years of experience of pilates and movement as a dancer, Glenn also trained with STOTT® PILATES broadening his already expansive knowledge of the pilates method of movement. He has recently studied with the renowned Darien Gold second generation classical pilates instructor.
