My name is Nina Saacks, I’ve been teaching Integral Hatha Yoga since 2003 in Cape Town. I am a Yoga Teacher and Studio owner, Yoga Teacher Trainer and facilitate Yoga retreats with a number of different colleagues in SA and overseas. Over the years I have explored different forms and teachings of Yoga but I have always returned to Hatha Yoga and more specifically returning to a gentle, slow and mindful way of practising. Using Yoga more as a means of therapy, a way to still the mind and bring the body into a space of stillness and rest.
The first class/section is all about flexibilities. That is joint mobility, so ideal for anyone, at any age or stage in life. It is also great if you are recovering from and injury or hospitalisation and need to start mobilizinig joints. You can do this class as many times as you need to and at any point in your life. It is the simplest and easiest way to get going. I teach the mobility’s sitting, but you could do most of them lying on your back or standing if you find sitting uncomfortable. So choose what works best for you and try out different options over the weeks.
In the second class/section we explore forward bends and backbends, we delve a little deeper into two common postures practiced in Yoga and the theory and way most people should practice them. Discovering the best way in which you should do forward bends and back bends can then be translated into all forward bends and backbend in future classes you join.
The third class/section we look at lateral stretches and twists, exploring the theory of lengthening the sides of the body as well as the importance of rotating the spine
In the forth and final class/section we explore balances and inversions and we look at way in which they impact our lives.
I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
Nina
If you’re like me, then you’ve also probably been caught up in the busy-ness of life leading to feelings of overwhelm and stress and at some stage you realise that things need to change and I assume that that is possibly one of the reasons why you are here...
So if you are looking for change, a place to start very simply, very easily, then you’re at the right place. Yay! I’ve put this 4-part course together with a Pure Beginner in mind. Someone who has never tried Yoga before. Maybe you think you’re too stiff, too large, too old, too busy, too unhappy... not to worry, give this course a try and see if we can make a few changes together.
There are 4 classes, each class includes very gentle and simple warm up practices, a few Yoga postures or movements, breathing practices and a relaxation practice.
I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
Nina
